Fanatec Carrera Wheel FFB Issue

After some intense sawing at the wheel by my brother, I played GT5. I usually have the FFB at 5 on the game and 100 on the wheel. I had this, then went to do the Touring Car Seasonal Event. I instantly noticed that the FFB was unnoticeable but went on to win the race.

My first instinct was to check if FFB was even on! As I feel absolutely nothing on the wheel (My brother blames FFB as one of the reasons he spins ). From that, I found that once I was in the on-wheel menu, the FFB was stronger and it turned non-existent when I turned off the menu. I thought "Well this is strange".

So I cranked up the FFB at 10 and it was stiff in the GT5 menu, then turned non-existent as soon as I went into the Alfa 8c race. Then I knew that the wheel is broken.

I am really happy with the product but this problem is just strange...

Please any input will be helpful because this really hurts my driving because I am starting to over steer since there is no resistance.

PS. Don't say it's my bro's fault because this was designed for grown men to use... what will a 16 year old boy do? Unless there is a flaw in the design... but I won't go into that.

I can't say much, but I find it strange that wheel clearly has force feedback in the menu, but looses it once you are in-game. It sounds like a game/software problem, but I know that that is very unlikely. Did you leave the game, turn off the console, turn off the wheel etc. and this problem persists?
I think that if there was something wrong with the wheel, it probably wouldn't have any force feedback. I could be wrong of course :D

I'll try it tomorrow as my bro is playing FIFA. I hope leaving it for a bit will help as I've planned to do the Leguna 200 miles tomorrow.

I say get a head start and contact support.

While that is going on, try to swap out the power cord. Laptop cords usually match up.

I don't think it has stronger FFB in the menu, it just kind of locks itself in place becasue the belt is not free to move.

For me GT5 has very soft FFB with my GT2 wheel. Sometimes even crashing into a wall produces nothing.

If I play on PC with iRacing for example, the FFB is much stronger.

I think it's a problem with fanatec's drivers and GT5.

Well I was thinking the same thing the first time I ran GT5 with the fanatec.

It is almost as if FFB is off because it is just so weak.

If you're in a menu then it's very hard to turn but in the race it feels nothing like that.

Try it out on a PC game and see if the FFB is still weak.

EDIT: Actually try going into GT5 and getting in a race car and go really slow. See if it feels stronger. Also try pushign into something like a wall and trying to turn the wheel.

I found that you can get the wheel to show strong ff effects but when you are normally driving it is still very soft.

did you turn centering spring and dampening to 0? and drift mode up? i I've never used the carrera, but that's what I do with my Turbo S. i run FFB @ 3 in gt5 and 100% on the wheel.

Thanks guys, I guess last night my wheel was just having a "period" as when I played today, the FFB was back!

I am still worried by the noises the wheel makes but that is not as important (I hope it's just the fans). Anyway, thanks everybody!
