Hey guys. I hooked up my new Fanatec Clubsport wheel over the weekend to my PC and PS3. Everything is working great, except in GT5, no button on either the GT rim or Formula rim will pause the game and bring up the in-race menu. I am putting the wheel into PS3 mode correctly, and I believe I have everything set up as it should be. This is somewhat of a pain. I have steering type set to Normal. Do I perhaps need to set it to "Simulation" in order to get one of the buttons to act as the Pause button? Any other thoughts?

Thanks!

I'd suggest to set the steering to "simulation" anyway because you'll get the most out of that nice wheel anyway. As for the button mapping, maybe you could just keep a controller on hand because I believe you can pause the game like that.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure the pause button works on my CSW with GT5. Try checking your button functions in the driver settings menu. Maybe try reinstalling the firmware or PC driver anyways even if everything looks ok in the settings menu with the button function.

OK, good ideas. I am running Firmware Version 37 and Driver 144.

I also wonder whether it could have something to do with how I am putting the wheel into PS3 mode. As of now, I press the Select and Start buttons to put the wheel into PS3 mode. I just saw on Fanatec's website, however, that they recommend that we use the Select and Connect buttons to put the wheel into PS3 mode, rather than the Select and Start buttons, for those of us using Firmware Version 37. I am willing to bet that is my problem.

Fanatec seems to think so:

Update
Since firmware V037 we enabled a second buton combination to engage the PS3 mode. This was done because the PS3 sometimes did not accept the "start button" any more if the previously used button combination was pressed. Press the following buttons to start in PS3 mode with your CSW using firmware V037+

I am very impressed with the FAQ section of Fanatec's new website. Nicely done. I still wish they had a comprehensive manual for the CSW, like they have for their other wheels, but the FAQ and videos will work for now.

If you want to use in-game tuning (when racing) you need to re-direct the buttons using the G25 & G27 directory.

The pause button works normally in my case (Middle/bottom/right) using FW037

I've re-directed the "X" button to go to the in-game tuning menu and the directional buttons (right stick) for the in-game-settings.

Simulation or normal settings have nothing to do with the buttons, simulation is way to go obviously ;)

Thanks blade.

I have owned many wheels in my sim racing career, including the M$ wireless racing wheel, Logitech Driving Force GT, Fanatec GT2, Fanatec CSR, Fanatec CSR Elite and the Thrustmaster T500RS. The Clubsport wheel is clearly the best you can get in the sub-$1000 price point. Obviously I bought it primarily for PC sim racing, but its a nice plus that it works on PS3 as well for GT5. I have a GT5 triple screen set up (of course that means three PS3s), and I am hoping that it turns out to be true that GT6 is coming to the PS3.
