I have done a bit of searching on this forum as well as a few others and have decided it's time to make a thread. I am new to the GT5 racing scene comming from a lot of Forza 4. After the update that sent my wheel haywire on the 360 I decided it is about time to pick up GT5 for my PS3! The problem that is driving me nuts is how little FFB I can get out of my CSR wheel. I know what it can do on other racing titles and it turns into a wimp as soon as I fire up GT5.

Yes I have tried basic troubleshooting like wheel settings, in game settings, various USB cords, various Fanatec FW updates, and other things that failed to rid this issue. I know it isn't the game. I have read to many people complain about too much feedback lol. I know the GT5 experience is way better then this!

Help?

I can't help you,but I know because I tested it by my self that the CSR-Elite is a big delusion with GT5!
And I can tell you more,I'm playing rFactor 2(for me it is the best simulation out there and it has the best physics/ffb!)and for me the DFGT has a better ffb than the CSR-elite! don't misunderstand me,I think the the CSR-Elite is a better overall steering wheel than the DFGT but if we speak purely about ffb,the DFGT is better!

Sorry mate, but it is actually GT5 and the CSR - I was in the same ballpark as you with the CSR-Elite - didn't see what all the fuss was about, and aside the pedals, didn't think it was worth the money.

It must be the way the FFB data is translated by the CSR wheels from GT5, because the CSR-Elite is absolutely amazing on Forza 4 - night and day.

I have a thread stating exactly that somewhere on this forum - but yes, the tactile feel I was expecting with the CSR-E wasn't there at all in GT5, but is overwhelmingly good in Forza 4.

Now if I can just go more than 3 months without having to RMA my wheel, I'd be a happy man.

Good to know - I've only ever played it with the DFGT, and the CSR-Elite so it may be that way across the board. I'd love to try the T500RS with GT5 but I'd need to actually test it in advance before dropping that kind of coin.

If its a FFB strength you're complaining about you should turn FFB to 100 (in game and the wheel), damper to -3, and spring to +3 (or fiddle with that setting as it can be very snappy at +3 - some people like it like that, I personally like it a bit smoother, +1 or 0) - also make sure drift mode is OFF, and deadzone is 0.

Why not save your money and buy a budget PC and hit the pc sim games? They really are on an entire different level then gt5.

Thanks Wonton I will try those settings next time I play. Yeah bevo, I actually have been bouncing around with the thought of switching to PC racing for a while now. You could say that I'm Kind of intimidated lol. How much more difficult/sim is it on the PC with titles like iRacing etc...

It is no more casual go for drive simulation which GT5 aims for. Iracing is real sim racing with spec cars. I see it as a whole different animal which takes much more commitment to one "game".

Iracing is a lot more competitive but its not the only game out there. With Rfactor 2, Pcars, and gtr 3 coming out you will be able to make it as serious as you want to or as casual. All of those games will blow Gt5, and forza away. They all cater to people who have a wheel and get the most out of someone's hard earned money.

The most promising PC sim which I am interested is Asetto corsa. Pcars looks also good but I trust Asetto corsa more due the solid physics coding background of the developer on NetKar pro.

The great thing about PC sims is that there is more then a few games. With consoles it's pretty much GT5, forza, F1, and Ferrari challenge as far as decent sim games go. And really none of them are up to the PC sim standards. I'm sure if you gave PC sims a try it would be hard for you to go back to console racers, at least it was for me. I've been playing the PC sims for a few years now and still haven't tried out most of them. There's enough of them where I'm sure one would be perfect for you.
