FFB feels very weak, compared to the DFP wheel, even when set to 100%. I know the ffb is working because when I turn it off (from the wheel) there is no resistance. Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks.

Edit: A comparison to the DFP (Driving Force Pro) wheel would greatly help. I had the game set to 3, for ffb, when using the DFP wheel and it is way stronger than the CSR at 10 in the game and the wheel at 100%.

Check in option under wheel and be sure your FFB is at 10.

As for that wheels adjustments on itself. I have no clue. First place to check is the FFB setting though.

One of the first things I checked. Yep, she's at 10. Still weak as can be.

Try plugging it into your second USB. I know it sounds stupid but who knows, it might help :)

Is this after adjusting the game AND wheel's ffb?

the wheel is tough as **** !
I dont remember exactly but u need to turn one FFB off (i think the one in GT5).
Search for that here. There are a couple of posts about wrong setups!

Setting Drift to 004 or 005 will allow you to feel much more FF sensation.

Drift setting is basically artificial dampening which you do not really need in Gran Turismo (it is there mostly for PC games) and you release it by going to 004/005.

Also play with the Spring setting, I have it on 0 personally, but some people like it with +3 for faster rebound.

you can also test the maximum available FF when you install the PC software which is included.
A test run will put max. load on every cell (which is enough to move either the table or loosen the Wheel if you only use the clamps instead of the screws)

Drift can be set from off to 3. Tried from off to 3 with little difference. Spring setting does change the rebound but, again, the ffb stays weak. Very weak in FM4.

Wheel has no software that came with it. You can dl driver files for pc but, that won't give me the info you're mentioning. Are we talking about the same wheel?

Really have no idea.

I would propose you to downgrade your firmware from your current 701 (I didn't even had an idea it was released) to more common 681, or even 669U - but I have no idea how will CSR perform under "6xx" firmwares.

I really propose you to continue your quest overthere on Hardware forum, because Thomas from Fanatec often lurkes there and he can be off much help.

Ask there is it possible to downgrade CSR from 701 to 681 without consequnces, it culd solve your problems. I happen to have the heaviest model of all - GT2 - and I am pretty satisfied with FFB level.

Of course, it is not "strong" as Logitech DFP, but you have to know how there is no new wheels that have "strong" or "direct" FFB as DFP. DFP uses really old technology of gear-driven FFB, which is very strong but is not precise, nor allows for full sensation of FFB effects.

Also, DFP have a really small wheel-diameter and because of that you can feel the FFB much "more" and "stronger". When I first went from DFP to Logitec G25 I had the same feeling as you have today - like there is no FFB. But that is just an illusion. Once you get use to the more subtile and more sensational FFB of modern FFB wheels, you try to come back to DFP. It will feel like a lifeless grinder to you.

I think you just need to adapt on the different sensation. DFP is really one heavy-MOFO and it was good in creating an FFB sensation in 2004. However, overall TouchSense software has went 4 transformations since that time and FFB effects we have today are really not possible to create with old-FFB tech of DFP.

Also, from what I've read, users of CSP that had Fanatec GT2/PWST models before are extremely satisfied with the overall FFB sensation compared tu previous lineup, so I really starting to think your impression just comes down from recent DFP experience which is not really comparable with today technology-standards.

EDIT: And also this:

Overthere on Hardware forum you asked about FFB on X360. Besides that "trick" I wrote about, there is also one more thing you need to be clear with: FFB effects on X360 console - as a console - are much less pronounced than on PS3/PC.

Xbox360 have hardware restriction over creating a proper FFB effects as on PS3/PC. Result is different sensation of FFB effects which can't really be compared with one on PS3/PC. You just have to live with that untill Microsoft decide to change their BIOS-libraires and allow for HID-force feedback instead of curent XID. We all hope it will happen on the NextBox, because they're already destroyed one whole genre on their console because of their crazy "XID" policy.

im not to sure about the software. could very well be that its included in the driver package. Its basically only a web page with some test cases and adjustment options. as soon as you click on "test ffb" it goes wild for a few secs.
Also the csr has the same main-FFB motor than other wheels from fanatec which offer very high amount of force.
im sorry that i cant be more precise atm. but i know that i had similar issues in the beginning and it all came down to setup issues (on my side), always :)

Also right now would be a perfect time to call the fanatec support. They are very friendly and helpfull but i dont know about their english skills (which usually is fine in germany)

Thanks ama212. I appreciate all your info and help. I think you may be right about the sensation being different from one wheel to another. I' ll keep tinkering with it and hit up the hardware forum for anything else that might help. Thanks again to all.
