I all,

I've just upgraded from a dfgt to a fanatec csr with elite pedals & shifter set.

It came with firmware 701 but after some initial issues I've managed to update to 706.

I'm happy with how the wheel is in forza 4 but am trying to figure out the right way to use it on the PS3, specifically GT5 just now.

I expected that I could use it in either PC or PS3 mode on the PS3 and that I'd just have to see which games PC mode didn't work with. However, my understanding was that PC mode would be the best for GT5.

I'm hitting a problem there though as when in PC mode I can navigate the menus etc but as soon as I'm in car I have no steering/accel/brakes.

Am I using the wrong profile or doing something else wrong?

I've checked the wheel when connected to a pc and the setting page shows outputs as expected for steering/accel/brake/clutch & buttons so don't think it's a fault in the wheel.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers

Ok thanks, still a bit confused as to why pc mode isn't working then.

I'll maybe play about a bit more.

Looking through the threads here it seems there's quite a few different viewpoints on getting the csr working best and I did read in one that the force feedback was different in the two modes with pc being better.

I'm happy using ps3 mode but am finding the feedback great apart from the feeling of losing grip due to understeer...

We've finally got some sunny weather in Scotland so don't want to spend too much time inside!!!

;-)

Cheers

I meant for FFB. Several users have also reported that PC mode only works in menus.

Weather has been great also here in Finland and forecasters say that it will be a long and hot summer.

The ps3 mode emulates the Logitech G25. The PS3 support the G25 fully, including menu controle. The CSR in pc mode is not officially supported on the PS3.

You also use this PS3/G25 on the PC using the logitech driver.

Thank you both, great info. I'm getting the impression fanatec hardware is great but their documentation is far from comprehensive!

Thank goodness for places like gtplanet and it's community.

I've had a full day in the sun now so might sneak in a bit of time on gt5. :-D

Thanks again
