Fanatec CSW with GT4 on PS2

I have a PS3 and will soon have a PS2 as well. I just read that the Fanatec wheels can be used with the PS2 if they are first plugged into the PS3 and put into Playstation mode then removed from PS3 and plugged into the PS2. Does that sound right? The CSW with v32 firmware emulates a Logitech G25 (I think)
