Since i didnt get any help in another thread, I'll ask it here....

Im on controller but this year I'm planning on upgrading to a wheel, so my question is this - is a 8nm wheelbase a noticable difference from a 5 nm wheelbase ?

Yes. Though personally I went with third party power supply to unlock 8 Nm, as I find Fanatec pricing on the "boost kit" inexplicable.

Fwiw, especially if your in vr, i bought the 8nm, then less than a year later, the 15nm. The full force, now that gt7 is supporting it, makes it worth it alone.

Ps: omg fanatec. Release the pedals…..!
same here -started w the 8 then moved up - agree Full Force is suprisingly good well worth it

I am looking to get GT3 style wheel from Fanatec and choosing between CSL GT3 (ex Mclaren V2 GT3) and Endurance GT3, but to make it more affordable I was looking into getting just the Button Module Endurance from Fanatec and Rim, S-Hub + QR2 and paddles from Simube, which would make it around 2 times more expensive than CSL GT3 rather than 3 times from Fanatec. I got some questions:
  • Does anyone in here have direct comparison between the two wheels and could share experiences?
  • Does anyone use Simube components and can comment if they are reliable? Does S-Hub work on PS5 without issues?

Also, my Simnet pedals arrived some time ago, decided to keep the order for these in the end. Pretty happy with them overall, still getting used to them, it's a massive change from regular CSLs. I think trying out different brake settings contributed to breaking the locking mechanism for backrest on swivel chair I use with the wheel stand :dopey:. This makes it harder to find consistency, but I can already tell trailbraking is easier now.

You will need a fanatic hub to work with the endurance module, whilst it uses a usb connector, the protocol is bespoke to fanatec so it will not work if you plug it directly to the pc.

Best to wait for the next sale if you want to go down that route.

I meant using one of these to connect to the wheel base, not USB.

That will not work with the endurance module, it needs to plug into fanatec hub.

It will let you use a wheel from another manufacture on a fanatec base, but that wheel will still need to connect to the pc via usb for buttons etc to function.

I planned to go this route myself and even bought the adapter, but ended up going down a fanatec path in the end with the Monte Carlo bundle.

At around 6:30 mark you can see connection between Fanatec's Endurance Module and S-Hub -
It is recognized as Podium Hub in the software.

Looks like it would work tho can’t speak to quality of the Simube products. Yes good savings but it may complicate tech support if there are any issues w FW updates or BME function

My bad, didn’t realise it was a hub, overall there products are solid, I have the QR2 on my McLaren rim and on my BMW GT2, no issues at all, I would see no need to buy qr2 from fanatec, unless heavily discounted or as part of a bundle.

It will work fine, I did pretty much exactly what you are asking.

As for the quality of the Simube gear, it's comparable to Fanatec. Wouldn't surprise me if it comes from the same factory.
I have quite a few of their products and never had any issues.

And now a playstation compatible version please :D

"FAQs:

Q: Why no PlayStation?

A: To give some context into platform compatibility, PlayStation users are required to use Sony-licensed wheel bases. Xbox on the other hand has licensing inside the steering wheel. Therefore, our wheel bases are default compatible with PC and Xbox if used with an Xbox-compatible steering wheel. The licensing process for both sides can take extra time and requires inclusion of a specific chip to allow the platform compatibility.

We have been noting feedback from the PlayStation community regarding wanting more PlayStation wheel base options. I don't have any information to share just yet, but I can assure you the team is committed to expanding options for console users."

Is it me, or does it seem like O.C. wants to diss the wheelbase, but did not for some reason?

They’ll probably do a Gran Turismo version later in the year paired with the GT wheel.

Going by the price difference between the Clubsport DD and the DD+, it's $180 more to add the PS chip. I can't believe they don't have a PS version of this new base available from the jump seeing that the PC version of it is only $20 more than the DD+.

I'm totally happy with my DD+ and am more interested in the Podium pedals before I even think about upgrading my wheelbase yet again, but it just strikes me as an odd approach to launching the Podium DD. Then again, as noted above, I'll be surprised if one isn't in the works. As I type this, I suddenly recall: Wasn't there an issue with getting the Sony sign-off in time to meet the originally planned launch date of the DD+? It and was delayed as a result, annoying loads of people? Maybe Fanatec learned its lesson and decided to not say a peep about a PS version this time around until such a thing is approved and ready to sell immediately.

It is confusing. I would have put out pedals with decent ffb(full force stuff), as well as a full force equipped shifter, and hand brake, to get the whole racing rig feeling the road, before another direct drive wheel 🤷

Who is buying this new base? I’m running the GT DD Extreme and cannot run it over 75% with GT cars, shoulders are in bits! Would be interested in some real life (not sponsored YT vids) side-by-side comparisons between this and the DD+ to see what the key differences in ffb are.

Interesting point. I presume they know their business better than any of us do. But seeing how it’s priced barely any more than the DD+, why not just discontinue the + and sell the podium version with PS compatibility? Especially if they are planning to come out with a podium with PlayStation compatibility. At that point, the only difference between the two is 200 bucks and the compatibility. I totally understand that 200 bucks is 200 bucks but it seems like weird price/features positioning to me.

People who don't need playstation compatibility, want max performance and are already in the fanatec ecosystem: Even if you don't use the max torque the bigger/stronger motor should be "faster" (better "slew rate") than the other direct drive wheel bases to reach a given amount of torque/force feedback

Yeah really only makes sense if they drop the CS DD+ to $975 and the CS DD to $825, assuming they want to keep a CS product line. If so then they need price points spaced up and down
