So I was really into a race on GT5 on the GT Allstars championship and lost control of my car. Frantically tried to countersteer and get back on course when i heard a snap or crack sound.:ouch:

The wheel seems to still work ok except there is alot more play side to side and it's a bit louder when turning. WTF did I just do? Anyone have suggestions on what I should do next? Open it up or what....

Initial test:

• Turns on and off as usual
• Unmounted it and shook it a bit, no loose pieces inside
• Calibrates just fine and goes into ps3 mode as normal

Yikes. Don't open it if it's still under warranty until you have contacted Fanatec. If they tell you you're on your own then I would open it up to see what cracked. If everything is working ok the crack might be patchable. Good luck!

I hope it's still under warranty since I have only had a week and a half. Haven't opened it yet either since I cant find a hex wrench long enough for the two screws in the back. :)

Off to Fanatec support...

It is not question of hope. In Europe we got this thing called customer rights and warranty is just additional bonus offered by companies. Fanatec has 2 year warranty.

The return policy is 30 days (if the return is due to defect they even credit you back the initial shipping charge). I imagine the warranty should be at least a year.

Just curious, when you heard the crack did you hit the end of the rotation and possibly go past it, or do you think you turned it too fast against the FF?

It hit the end of the lock on the left side (counter clockwise). My FF was 100 and 10 in game. IIRC I had slight pressure once it hit lock and then crack sound was heard. It's hard to remember as it happened so fast!

I've got my case almost finished including two videos ready to send to fanatec.

Is this normal for Fanatec customers who inquire about support to receive these automated reply emails?

Thank you for your support inquiry. Perhaps you heard about this e-mail address from another source and you are not aware of the requirements we have in order to speed up the service process and give you a higher priority so we would like to mention it again:

Please..

…include a copy of your invoice (pdf) or order confirmation (e-mail) so that we have all order data

…write down the product name(s) and serial number(s) (can be found on the bottom of the product)

…do not send to multiple e-mail addresses. The request will only be processed if e-support@fanatec.com is the only recipient

…make sure you always include the full email history with every e-mail you send to support

…make a small video of your problem. Please send it directly by Email or upload the video to www.mediafire.com. Please try to keep it small! If we can verify the issue this will allow us to send you a replacement unit without waiting for a return of the product. Please do not use youtube or a similar service – we will need to download the file easily!

…make sure you have a problem which is not described in the FAQ

…read the manual. Sounds trivial but 20% of requests could be avoided if the user reads the manual.

… list the following info
Tested operating systems or game consoles on which the problem occurs
Tested games which show the problem

Only if you follow all of these rules, your request will be handled fast and smooth. Thank you.

In case your e-mail does not fulfill these requirements, please send us another email."

I've included all the above requirements and I am still getting these emails...?

Wait for Armin from support to contact you, that is an automated email sent every time you send something to them. He should respond shortly if everything you stated was in the correct order.

+1...They are a little slow at responding it seems....Keep us posted on how you make out.

It took them 2 days (plus the weekend) to respond, which isnt bad at all! I understand that work sometimes in EU is a bit slower paced.:)

Armin replied to my email saying if I filled out a RMA they would send me a replacement, then I will send back the broken wheel. Filled it out now will see how long till it gets shipped.

 Fanatec

Hope so as I have sent an enquiry To Claudia, I received this back and re-sent the query including a copy of my invoice and serial number for the wheel.
I didn't put a video in as my query consists of a missing paddle shifter. Wouldn't make an entertaining video really lol.

I then received the automated reply straight after again. I have ignored the second reply and I am waiting patiently.

Have I missed anything guy's.

Great wheel though.

Got the new wheel today and wow. I think I got a bunk wheel the first time (broken one). Butter smooth FF and the fan is much quieter.

There are stickers on the "start" and "back" buttons which my broken wheel did not have. This leads me to believe they have made some updates from the first/second batch of GT2's?

hi, i think to have the same problem.
i bought the fanatec GT2 wheel just 1 month and 10 days ago from a game stop point sale in milan, italy.
it's already broken: i can't turn it on the right and the dispay shows three 8 ( 8 8 8 ). the shop cant change it since its more than 1 month that i bought it. i tried to email fanatec and i received the same authomatic email ( put the video, etc....).
what can i do??? can i directly call it???

thanks for your help

My advice is to try and follow all the steps that Fanatec requires (make a video just use your phone and fill in all the required fields). I feel like if you do not follow all their steps, you're not going to get any support.
