Fanatec McLaren V2 shifter pin bushing mod

After my McLaren V2 rim started getting much louder on the downshift i decided to take the shifter paddle off to inspect it.

The two little rubber bumpers on the back of the paddle where it hits the magnets had moved entirely off center and it was essentially metal on metal contact.

No big deal deal as i can get some felt pads to fix that.

But as i had it off i noticed that the pin where the paddle pin goes through two small plastic sleeves that sit in the paddle hole. This cant possibly be the best material i thought.

So i took some measurements of the pin snd hole in the paddle with the plastic sleeves removed.

Pin OD is 5mm
Hole ID is 6mm
Paddle thickness at the hole is 10mm

Went on McMaster Carr and found a bronze bushing with these exact specs.

It showed up the next day (today) and I started assembly.

I used a small vice to press the bushing into the paddle as its super snug. The pin slides into the bushing perfectly.

I did have to shave down the sides of the plastic bumper blockes on the wheel a little bit or else the paddle would contact them.

Juat sharing my experience. Makes the paddle have less deflection when pressing it. I still need to get some felt pads for the contact points but otherwise it feels good.
