I don't see much about this wheel around...does anyone have experience with it? It seems to be Fanatec's equivalent to Logitech's DFGT. What is the quality of the wheel like, and how is the playability with it on GT5 and F1 2010?

I don't own this wheel. But from my research, and the threads on here, it works great with GT5 and F1 2010. I think it is a great wheel for the price. Plus adjustablitly and upgradable.

I think you will be pleased with it.

I have one, it is awesome. The pedals bust on me just now though, but I think it is only a spring gone. Other than that, as I said, it's awesome!

Mine was delivered on Monday, would be great but the USB socket on the wheel is loose, so I can't actually use it yet! I really want to love Fanatec, but looks like I'll have to wait just a little longer.

after researching as much as I could find about this wheel, I just placed an order for one! Originally I was going to get a DFGT, but they were backordered for waaaaay too long, and I think I'll enjoy this wheel more with the 6 speed shifter. Eventually I'll probably upgrade to the clubsport pedals.

My buddy just bought one and I gave tried it a few times. Compared to a dfgt the feedback is way smoother, I like the design of the wheel, and the pedals are way better, my one complaint is how slow the wheel is. If you are turning the wheel very fast the gear mechanism can't keep up so you are met with some resistance, if you let go of the wheel from lock it takes about twice as long as a dfgt to center. This makes correcting oversteer and quick movements very difficult. I tried playing with all of the settings but had no luck.

Just got my wheel in last night. Did a quick test since I haven't built my wheelstand/cockpit yet (that starts tomorrow) and the functionality of the wheel seems really nice.

Should be able to put it to the test by next week sometime, while relearning how to play GT5 with a wheel XD

I managed to get it working by 'jiggling' the cable into the socket. I really like the wheel. Has taken me all week to get used to it (first ffb wheel, last one was a Saitek Adrenaline on my old xbox about 6 years ago!). I'm not as fast as the ds3 yet, but not too far off.

Fanatec finally got back to me and have said I can send it for repair or fix this myself. I opted for the second option after getting confirmation that my warranty would be unaffected! They even offered to advise me how to fix it!

I'm also happy with the pedals. Might upgrade to clubsports one day though.

Last but not least, am waiting for the CS table clamp to arrive as the finishing piece.

That is nice to hear your warranty won't be affected if you do it. It just means more GT5 time.

My thoughts exactly. Although I would recommend having it in writing before doing any repairs to be on the safe side!

Just wanted to comment in since receiving my Fanatec Carrera wheel and MS4R (Next Level Racing GT Pro) seat in last Tuesday. Coming from a Logitech G25 (with a playseat evolution and shifter bracket) back in the GT5 Prologue days and NFS: Shift all I can say is in my honest opinion the wheel and shifter feel much better. Wheel feels good, not notchy and aggressive at all until you loose traction breaking your tires (then it shines). Shifter feels great compared to the G25 shifter (I modded mine to remove the sequential mode); it's notchy, tight, and feels just plain solid as far as going through the gears and down shifting. Shifter handle/knob doesn't move one bit in all gears except slightly in third (left to right motion). By notchy I mean it feels like a steeda tri-ax (similar in throw and feeling), had a couple of cobras and always loved those steeda shifters.

I've included the settings I'm currently using after doing various time trials and drift trials on multiple cars dialing and tweaking on the wheel. I wanted to get some good feedback but not at the expense of a simulation feel. I've driven (and owned) many sport and many muscle cars (72 chevelle ss 4 speed, 72 camaro ss, 73 corvette 4 speed, 75 corvette 5 speed, etc.). Most "race" cars don't have some crazy notchy steering unless you go no power steering and crank the steering ratio to 11 lol, most cars in this game factory setup should not have a notchy feel to steering.

GT5 in-game options:

Steering Type — Simulation
Power-Assisted Steering — Off
Feedback Strength – 10

Fanatec Carrera settings:

Sensitivity — 900 (degrees of rotation)
Force Feedback — 090
Drift — 002
ABS — 065
Linearity — 000
Dead Zone — 010
Spring — 0
Damper — 0

For the money you can't beat this wheel, I honestly enjoy it much more than my G25 I had and looking at the prices of those used (and the G27) I would just go with this wheel. Always can upgrade piece by piece later (CS pedals, CS shifter etc.) and even swap wheels if you get serious and feel like you want to take the next step :).

Thanks for sharing your settings on the wheel :)

I'm very impressed with the wheel myself, but don't have anything to compare it to since I've never played a GT game with a FFB Wheel! I'm still tweaking settings, and re-learning how to race, but so far my budget cockpit and new Carrera wheel have treated me very well :D

I will try your settings tonight or this weekend, although I don't know if I'm ready for 90FFB setting - currently using 70 and it feels pretty natural so far.

ingame ffb should be less than 6 i hear. otherwise 'supposedly' you cant feel rumble strips and such. mines at 3. wheel ffb always 100
