Fanatec Standard Pedals Problem

First post on this forum - I have a set of the fanatec standard pedals that seem to be suffering from a common problem. While playing, the brake engages at random & the throttle will not go to 100%. It looks like that this is caused by the potentiometers becoming loose inside the unit. It happened once before & I opened up the case and put the potentiometers back in their mounts. This worked for a couple months, but now the problem is back.

Is there a definitive fix for this problem? Someone on the FM3 forum was epoxying the potentiometers & someone else zip-tied them, I think someone else drilled holes in the pedals to so they could lube them?? I'd like to fix this permanently b/c it's a serious PITA to open up the pedals & put them back together.

Any input or help is much appreciated. Thanks.

You can buy some spay to lock the screws. Like "lock it"... it will harden after some minutes.... and the screws will sit tight

As a matter of Interest and perhaps reference. How old were your pedals when this started to happen?

The potentiometers don't actually screw into anything, they sit in little plastic brackets so a thread-locker (locktite) isn't appropriate.

The pedals were about a month or six weeks old when they first had the problem. They're now about two or three months old. I used them a pretty good, but not a crazy amount, maybe four hours per week max.

I'm a bit doubtful getting any result through fanatec's customer support. My PWTS shipped with a faulty pedal adapter. I made a video & emailed it a couple times with all the info they requested, called them, etc. Never heard anything back...

Man that needs to go back to them.. I've been in touch with them a few times for support always via email didn't think you could call etc!! and They usually come back quickly (within a week).. I've even had them ring me via internet chat at the weekend to see if things got resolved!! I guess it could be a local issue, since they are on the forums they may make a comment.

Well, the "etc." may have been a bit of an exaggeration, but I did call them once every other day for a week & a half. I'm on the West Coast of the US. I guess I'll make a video and send it. I'm just a bit doubtful based on my previous experience.

This is the contact info for their US operations (somewhat buried on their website).

you can read the rest from there support page.. I suspect the other route gets you to a distributor who may not be geared up for support!!

It might also be the case that the distributor can only respond to support queries coming via Fanatec themselves. I don't know. but it looks like even if your in the US the support link takes you to this page!

The support route does work in my experience. I hope you get this resolved.

Good luck

mine did the same , i didnt bother with it - i bought a adaptor for g25 pedals

Haha - I would have done the same thing, but the pedal adapter that came with the wheel was also broken! QC on this stuff is kinda ridiculous for how much it costs 👎

Well I had the same problem with the Standard Pedals and after reading people who did multiple replacements of these pedals I opted to do an upgrade to the Clubsport Pedals and Fanatec was Great through all of this! So I recommend this course of action for this problem. You won't regret it. The bottom line is the potentiometers are of cheap quality in the Standard pedal set almost like a scratchy volume control. If you want to get creative and try a higher end potentiometers for each pedal and can find some that fit perfect go for it I think it would fix the problem! As far as the housing getting moved on these controls I don't see that because the shafts turn very easily on these pots. Also they are a P.I.T.A. to get back together but It can be done successfully.
