I am currently looking at buying a Fanatec wheel to use with my Xbox (Forza mostly). I just wondered whether any other Fanatec owners could recommend a particular wheel, and if possible, a link to a shop that you would recommend as well. Thank you. 👍

I highly recommend the Fanatec Porsche 911 GT2 👍 I've had one for about 6 weeks now and I love it (miles better than my G25). I kept the G25 pedals to use with it (supplied adapter).

XBox, PS3 and PC support. Excellent! Bought direct from Fanatec

Yeah man the bad news is you have to order directly from them. Get ready to hunker yourself down and wait (unless you live in Europe then no wait). Oh snap you live in Europe there is no wait last time I checked so hurry up and order. Hf!!!

for x360 there is unfortunately not much choice. Fanatec are notoriously bad when it comes to logistics and customer support, so get the GT2 ASAP before FM4 comes out and they are out of stock.

Thanks, I think that's the one i'll get.
EDIT: Are the standard pedals compatible with the GT2? It doesn't say on their website.

You want the current offering, GT2. Get the ClubSport Pedals. You can use this wheel with your 360 now, PS3 and PC if you go that route. You'll be very happy with this setup.

FWIW,

The GT2 wheel + CSPedals costs $450.00USD (plus shipping)

iirc...up until around February Fanatec was offering a kit of the GT2 wheel + CSPedals for $400USD. It is rumored (maybe fact now? I can't find any updates) that this kit will be offered again this summer. Maybe something similar in England?

You'll be glad in the long run if you get the ClubSport Pedals. They are industry leaders at this consumer level. They are very adjustable and SOLID! All aluminum construction. They don't move in intense situations.

If you like, you can get the optional color kit. Sure it's just for looks, but it kooks frickin sweet! The CSP Tuning kit will be good to have in the future. You can swap springs, fine tune brake pedal throw and stiffness with an assortment of internal parts, and you'll have the recommended lubricants.

I haven't tried them, but the standard pedals are probably similar to the DFP & DFGT pedals. They get the job done, but don't offer much more. Lack of adjustments is a major drawback. Those afore mentioned Logitech pedals feel cheap. They are very light in weight and in action. There is almost no resistance compared to higher end pedals. Granted, a set of Mad Cats probably feel cheaper. They are probably on par with the Xbox wheel, if I had to guess.

If you're on a budget, by all means get them. But, I'd put a plan in place to get the ClubSport Pedals.

actually there's only few choices for xbox.
1. GT2
2. Turbo S (discon)
3. original steering ( sucks)

so it depends how much u wanna spend

Original steering, I think you mean the Microsoft wheel. If so, that's discontinued too.

Wow, that's helpful. I don't suppose you'd like to elaborate?
It was helpful, because now you know that. For free.:) What do you want to hear? It's a cheap poor quality plastic toy like the DFGT pedal. Better than the controller but nothing more. And if you can buy a GT2 wheel then save more money and buy the CSP! + a lot of lube oil:tup:

Yeah, that's exactly what I wanted to hear; your actual reason for saying they're crap rather than your original three-word post.

Would one of you mind taking a photo of the mounting mechanism on a Fanatec? I am looking at buying a GT2 but I need to make sure it will fit my cockpit which has a T Bar set up. I just want to see the clamp and how it mounts thanks.

Don't buy standard pedals!

Because they are virtual crap. I had them, within 1 month, lost 100% gas pressure, even after recalibrating them several times. Also, the brake was to iffy, it liked to lock up before you gave proper pressure.

From what I have looked into it was a potentiometer issue. They have addressed it and fixed it. BUT, some people who have gotten the new batches have reported the same issues with losing 100% functionality with the gas and brake.

Buck up and get the CSP, you will NOT be disappointed. Another BUT, the standards should work without breaking so easily as almost 100% break within 1 year of average use. Kinda sounds like a Kia to me.....

Last note, if they do break, they offer a $50 discount on the CSP & Free shipping on the CSP. So, if you go down the Std pedal route, you have a good option for the CSP when your pedals do break.

To be on topic, the GT2 rocks. And the shifters seemed to have gone through a re-engineer from batch to batch. They are not nearly as "clacky" and much easier to shift the gears. My first set was junk, then the replacements were real nice.

Yes Spaghetti, my replacement GT2 has been fault free. One thing I notice, is that on iRacing, I have to hold the wheel about 15-25 degrees to the right going down straights. Kinda weird. I have calibrated it on iRacing numerous amounts of times, same thing. It is not a hindrance, it just does not make much sense. This does NOT happen on the xbox.

The wheel itself is phenomenal. Also have the CSP now as well. Hell yea mate, having a blast. If anyone is on iracing, let me know. NEED a clubsport shifter lol.

Also, the new batch of shifters seems to be much better. Not as much clack, and smoother shifting. It is as if they got a quick re-engineer between batches. Nice upgrade though. And from what I know, they are IN STOCK in the USA.

Did you calibrate the wheel itself?

@gordat,

Obviously I calibrate the wheel before I use it. Also have it fully tuned to my style of driving. So, I am at a loss, but like I said, its not a hindrance when I am racing.

I have to say, this wheel is by far the most advanced one i have used. I have not tried the T500 though, and hear it is insane. BUT, the clubsport pedals blow away the competition, hands down. Cannot wait for the Clubsport shifter though!!!!

If you know of anything else to keep it more center, please, let me know. Thanks!

What went wrong with your first wheel Ant. I can't remember mate?

I'm wondering what happened to his 1st wheel as well and how long did he have to wait for a replacement...
