I am aware it is a known issue. I see people working on custom items such as convertors to attach pc shifters to a Fanatec wheel... etc. I am sure there would be a market for a similar device to fix the mic issue we are seeing with Fanatec wheels and xBox.

This has been discussed extensively on other forums I subscribe to. The best solution right now is the Tritton Warhead headset. It connects wirelessly to the Xbox-360 for chat. The next best solution (what I use) is the official Microsoft wireless headset. This requires the use of speakers though.

Bottom line is that any headset which you have to plug into the wheel will give you problems. Even if it works, it will probably cause your microphone to be super sensitive.

I am aware of that and the purpose of my thread was to hope someone would take on the challenge of creating some kind if interface to resolve this problem.

The Tritton Warhead seems like an expensive solution to the problem.

This unfortunately can't be done. Fanatec has to use a ms made module, and using anything else will not work. Sucks :(

I hate to put this so bluntly but... The problem is Fanatec's to fix. It is a firmware/board issue.

I have gone so far as to hard-wire a spare MS wired headset into the thing, bypassing the jack completely, something that should work above all else. It does not. I believe some firmware versions work and some do not. I, like many others, gave up on worrying about it long ago.

I have tested this on 2 separate wheels, one of which was an original beta wheel, serial number in the 50's... The other was from much later in production. Neither work at all with any headset I have tried.

Fanatec officially blames Microsoft.

Sorry for the bad news. :(

Well there is an inexpensive way to do it using a MS wireless ear/mic gizmo for chat with game sound via speakers or whatever. You could hack that in various ways for maybe 10-20 bucks used. I got my Trittons for about 225 on sale and with a coupon FWIW. They work well, no complaints. And you can use them via their analog input with PCs, or PS3 albeit w/o chat.

The manual does state that you need to turn the volume all the way down on the headset before plugging it in.. Not sure if people are doing that. Doesn't seem to matter in my testing but who knows.

Actually I just purchased some of those MS Wireless Ear/Mic gizmo's, but it does not resolve the issue I like to race with headsets (the wife).

My understanding was that the MS Headsets worked fine, I was hoping some sort of filter would fix the problem. But if it is not meant to be... then it is what it is.

Ripster,

There may be SOMETHING that can be done, but I really don't know what. Like I said, I connected the headset right into the thing with no jack at all and it still didn't work :(

Sorry

I find that my original XBox headset works fine with my Fanatec wheels. In fact it works better with the wheel than it does with the controller but maybe this headset is an exception. I have several friends who also have Fanatec wheels and various types of headsets. The turtle beaches are horrible they come through super loud and pick up everything in the background. Xbox and Triton wireless headsets seem to be fine and like I said the cheap xbox headset that shipped with the xbox seems to be fine.

It would be nice if there was a little inline device that would allow you to adjust the volume level of the mic like you can the speaker and is something that the more expensive headsets should include.

I use an Elite wheel now but also was using a TurboS wheel and my friends have the GT2, TurboS and CSR wheels

Okay I purchased a the xBox 360 wireless headset and paired it to the 360. And it works fine until I connect up my Fanatec CSR then the headset gets disconnected. Am I missing something?
