I was wondering, is it possible to have a Fan Fiction Subsection in the GT5 Race Reports section?

I have found that most fanfictions are just stories related to GT5, and sometimes include non-race content.

Those would go against the primary function of the Race Reports section, according to Touring Mars' statement about the Race Report section. So please, tell me what you think.

*This is meant for Jordan, but other staff's opinions are welcome:)

I actually learned of the term "fan fiction" only recently, and I see how fitting a description it is for most of the threads in the Race Reports forum. I'm not sure splitting these threads away from the forum would be a good idea, though. Perhaps the forum should be re-named to "GT5 Fan Fiction", or "GT5 Race Reports & Fan Fiction"?

What about creating tags, like "Fan-Fic" and "Report"?
It would be good because that section doesn't have a huge amount of traffic, yet more people might start up Reports/Stories 👍

Yes, I was thinking of that! ;)👍

I wrote a fan fiction piece, put it in the 'race reports' forum and it got read by about 2 people, that was over 2 months ago! No point splitting forums for that kind of traffic.

If you're talking about this, then it actually got viewed by 377 people.
You can't judge the number of people that read it from replies.

It wasn't that one, it was a fictional story type thing.
Being a complete techno-retard I didn't pause to think that not everyone who views a thread will comment/post.:dunce:

I should hope that that a fan-fiction story based on GT5 actually has some reality in how you play the game (some basic stats, car X can win race Y, bought these parts, etc.); otherwise I could win every race with a Daihatsu Midget II. That would just be a rather worthless contribution that would serve of no help to other members of the forum.

I don't have a problem with creating a back-story for why you chose to race a car in a particular event or series for GT Race Reports (plain stats wouldn't be very interesting to read, unless very exhaustive and informative)...but there has to be some basis in reality within the bounds of gameplay to go with it.

Unless a lot of members want a fictional story/storytelling area of GTP, I personally don't get the point of fan-fic; creating a story from whole-cloth is much more interesting and much more creative, in my opinion. Although I will say I'm not against it for the same reasons I don't personally care about Photo Mode...to each his own, creatively.

I hope this doesn't disappoint too much, but fan fiction is mostly not helpful. It serves for entertainment purposes. Of course there aren't people going around beating Zona R's in their Ford Ka's (mostly).

It's really much more of a story. GT5 just serves as a tool for pictures.

And I don't know what you think the GT5 fan fiction is like, but it's much more than just a bunch of race reports fused together with some main story. There are many great stories where racing is still very important, but there are sub plots, different characters etc.
Another thing I'd like to point out is that the fan fiction threads seem more popular than the regular race report threads right now.

IMO, GT4 was better than GT5 in some ways for fan-fics. For starters, there were way more events.

When you look at it that way yes, but GT5's online capability allows you to do pretty much anything with enough friends.

When PSN is working that is.
