ok, so there's a lot of B-Spec threads in here and so little is known about much of the features of the game. i hope we use this thread for all of our B-spec queries and information. that way searching for answers is easy for all of us. so post, ask and discuss anything about B-Spec. 👍 :sly:

1.) does the kind/way of commanding vary the xp given to Bob?
2.) does the "boxed arrow" sign signify morale or fatigue?
3.) can someone explain maintain pace command. does it mean "maintain the previous command" (you selected) or just simply "normal pace"?
4.) any other things that would be unlocked above lv22 apart from more races, and drivers; maybe like fast forward option (lol)?

So I found out that if you grind through the 1-6 levels of B-spec and beat the Miata race, you win a Mazda race car that actually lets you compete against the cars you can't afford at a level you can't buy them at anyway, later in the game.

I have tried two different "drivers," and I took into account their ratings both times. Well, the first one couldn't beat the FF races with a 250 hp 97 Civic with suspension mods, and the second one couldn't beat a Nissan Cube/Toyota Prius with the 290 hp Motul Civic. Is there something I am doing wrong here? I don't get it. I "leveled" the first guy up to 4 before taking on the Compact Car cup, and he takes 8th place with the Motul Civic....

Is this what the beginning of B-Spec mode is all about? Should I throw this disc in the microwave on high for ten minutes?

1. no
2. temperament
3. mains pace, does not mean maintain previous command
4. you hit lvl 25 and get endurance races, up to 6 drivers (max). no fast forward option but Kaz did say it is coming in the future. one update at a time.

ok thanks for the reply. got a few follow-up q's:

temperament - you mean the rate at which bob goes into cold/hot? did i understand you correctly?

mains pace? or you mean maintain pace? what pace will he be at if I gave him Pace up then maintain pace?

@The Buster

are you referring the Civic Type R? i completed FF with that on A and B-Spec. try setting a close gear ratio for better acceleration.

2. Wrong, Its his form

4. You can have 2 drivers in races that are long enough in Extreme, Super GT for example will use 2 drivers.

Alot of this info is in the ingame manual, under 'b-spec'.

1. As others have said, no.
2. His Form, if its pointing up to the right, he is in great form, to the right and he's in average form and down to the right and he's in bad form.
3. Think of the blue/red bar as a pace meter, if you say increase pace it will go towards the red and he will push harder(not necessarily faster), increase pace too far and you will find that he is actually slower overall. Decrease Pace is the opposite. Maintain Pace means where ever the needle currently is when you input the command, it will stop there. Generally you want it to be just a bit to the right of middle.
Overtime however he will gradually decrease pace himself, and that's where you need to be careful, if you let him get all the way to the left, he will end up driving too slow and the other cars can catch up. This is generally when he is out in front though and not close to any cars. If he is coming up behind a car or a car is coming up behind him, he will automatically increase pace until he passes, or is further in front of other car then decrease pace again.
4. Basically only more driver slots and races, I am guessing the 24hr races will allow all 6 drivers to race. I am currently using 4 in the races I am doing.

thanks, thanks. that clears #3.

follow-up question tho, do the drivers perform best when they are on the "pace level" you choose when you first created your driver?

I don't think so no. I have 4 drivers and their pace levels are all different, but they all perform best when the needle is just on the right of middle.

hmm.. maybe i should now make some keen obeservations on lap times in relation to the initial pace and in-race pace level i set.

Q: does fuel load affect Bob's lap times? i.e. the lesser fuel i have, the faster times i clock due to less weight?

Yes they do, but bare in mind that more often than not they will be tired by the time that happens and they're tyres may be starting to reach the end of their life. But in the Super GT race, 1 tank is fine for the whole race and the second driver gets in fresh, with half a tank, new tyres and is MUCH quicker, around 2-3 seconds a lap. So there is around 4-6 seconds worth in a tank of fuel in a Nissan Super GT GTR at Suzuka which has a notoriously high fuel effect.

thanks. i just completed the SuperGT races yesterday. man, the wet suzuka race is LONG! took my 2 bobs around 1h30mins to complete the 30 lap race.

You're lucky I kept trying for wet race in A-Spec, but all dry the around 8 times I kept quitting entering quitting...

right, a little update about like the wind (indy). i just beat it with lv20 (cool-tempered) bob and I thought i would share the info and tips to those who are also having a hard time getting it.

Race: Like The Wind - Indy
Bob: Lv 20 Cool-Tempered
Car: R10 TDI (Stealth)

SETUP:
Tires: Racing Hard Front and Rear (F/R)
Tranny: 420 Top Speed
Aerodynamics: MAX F/R
Turbo: Stage 3 (High RPM)
Brake Balance: 10 F/R
Suspension:
- Height: -15 F/R
- Spring: 16.0 F/R
- Dampers (ext): 7/8 F/R
- Dampers (comp): 8/7 F/R
- Anti-Roll Bars: 7 F/R
- Camber: 0.5 F/R
- Toe: 0 Front; 0.20 Rear

A few things i would like to say though:

- this isn't the best nor the absolute key to winning the race, but this is the best one I've used that gave me the best results.
-the AI would always be around you, and you would also be around them, ALWAYS.
-the back markers is a godsend and a curse. they slow down the ones who comes up behind them giving bob the opportunity to catch up and/or overtake. sadly though, AIs also catches up (and overtakes) when bob gets behind a slow back marker.
- AI can't generate a big lead you can't catch up to, and you can't too.
- every race is a toss-up. no race can be a guaranteed win, because, 1.) you can't get a very big lead 2.) cars are always slipstreaming each other and constantly switching leads and positions 3.) cars don't differ much in HP, so no one has a significant advantage 4.) track is an oval so there isn't much Bob can't take advantage of aside from slipstreaming.
- on a positive note, no race is a guaranteed loss either. on the race which my Bob won, he was 10/12 halfway through the race and the front pack is slowly inching away. but due to the things i mentioned above, Bob catches up on the front pack and took the lead on the last turn before the finish line.
- needless to say, a lot can happen in a race. so DON'T RESTART any race you enter. finish it even if chances looks slim halfway through the race. have faith in your driver, he will catch up.
- lastly, again, this isn't the one-stop answer to winning this damned race. so don't curse me if you didn't win the first time after you used my small tips. just do it again, as i said, a lot can happen during the race.
- don't bother controlling Bob. as you'll always be bunched up together, pace would most likely be on the hot/red zone the whole race. so just sit back (or do something else) and let bob do the work.

If you have the Mazda 787B Stealth that one is quite easy ^

sadly, i don't. :( the code that came with my CE only gave me 5 of the stealth cars. I would not mind it much if it was the GTR, NSX or even the SLS which is missing. :(

and just to add:

My Guide.
Take Toyota 88 C, give it a turbo.
Put lvl 12 or above B-Spec driver in the car.
Press Go.
Go do what you want, have lunch, very quick swim, etc
Come back, collect money and exp.
Press go on next race.
Continue with A-Spec.
