I Used to have a thread like this but the times always got clogged up with hyper cars or le mans cars or something :P

THIS IS FOR INFORMATIVE PURPOSES, I see a lot of new people(and some veterans) asking purely what cars are fast and what aren't, so I will be doing a fast lap board exactly the same as top gears on their circuit

I will use a multitude of supercars from dealership, ALL ARE STOCK and in tires that they came with, I will be at a standing start like top gear also.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE A CAR FEATURED DROP A COMMENT (only street cars)
There will be a top 10 with car name and time

1. Aston Martin DB9 '06 1:21:734
2. Alfa Romeo 8C '08 1:22:075
3. Honda NSX Type R '02 1:25:388
4. Acura NSX '91 1:30:419

How about dividing this up a bit with say a Stock, 550pp (that seems to be the most popular restriction online, you choose the tires, but again RS seems to be the most common), and whatever else?
That might be a very useful set up for people wanting to try to find a competitive choice for racing friends.
And finally, just to make sure I got this straight, this is all done on the Top Gear Test Track right?

Yes the test track, but this is for a base time, unmoved to ensure you know what is a good car to start with :)

I dunno. Some cars, like the Alfa 8C are fairly alright at stock levels, but are basically useless after being built up. In any case though, I'll be checking in here to see what comes up and maybe submitting some of my own times

Sure, this isn't about who can get the fastest time or if they are better than me lol

Of course, just a reference point.

How about a BMW M3 GTR?
I don't have a stock one, but it'd be interesting to see how it stacks up

Not trying to be too critical, but if you really are trying to be informative, this isn't the way to go about it. You need to standardize the cars in some way for comparison. For example, if a car at 456pp stock on Sports Hards does a 1:20 and another car stock at 475pp on Sports Mediums does a 1:18, which one is really faster? One has more PP and better tires so it should be faster, but head to head in a racing situation where there are baseline parameters like PP or weight and HP, who would win? You cannot tell who would win the way you are going about it.

It would be a good idea to at least equalize the tires and set PP levels for comparison purposes. That way the cars are supposedly equal yet, one can be faster than another and this may indicate a better handling car or stronger motor.

The cars aren't supposed to be equal, this is to show what is best to buy as it comes out of the dealership

Seems like an interesting idea. I wonder what tyres they use when they do the Top Gear time trials? Would be good to compare a real lap set by the Stig with what you can achieve in-game, using the same car.

I've never got to grips with the Top Gear track, I find it surprisingly difficult, despite appearances.

They use the stock tires that come on the car, like with that whole David Coulthard challenge thing. CS tires to match the stock tires on the car

My point is still the same. How can you compare anything when they aren't measured on a standard basis? I already know Jag XKR is going to be faster than a Sunfire Concept, but what if they are raced under equal conditions, then who wins the battle?

Anyway it's your show dude...

Well that's obvious im talking more about something like the difference between enzo and mclaren f1 or gtr skyline for instance
