Fastest a cop has let you get away with?

So, I was running down the road to Felton, CA from the Monterey Peninsula.
I was in my old T-Bird and I was running about 70 in a 55. (It just rolled smoother at that speed.:D ) And this is back when the Nat'l limit was 55.
So I look in the rear-view and I see red & blues coming very fast.
I mutter a few expletives, pull off of the busy highway, and this CHiP blows past!:O
The traffic was heavy enough that it took me almost 10 minutes to get a long enough clear spot to pull back onto the road.

Another time I was crossing Missouri in my old Pontiac. I was on my way back to Tennessee. My (at that time) three babies were strapped into their car seats and I was rolling near 80 in a 70. The MO Highway Patrolman pulled me over, and told me that I was running 77MPH, and just asked me to slow it down. I was already telling the cop that I had the Cruise set at 70. And I was stating my case.
My wife, sweetly said, "Honey, he's not writing you a ticket. He just wants you to slow down."
It took me a few seconds to register. The patrolman just walked back to his car laughing to himself.
I was just scared to be pulled over for DWB, consorting with a white woman, and transporting mixed race children across state lines.

... 83~85mph in a 65mph zone--this one was funny I was in my P71 cop car and following another cop car, a REAL one he had his lights & sirens on and I was cruising along behind him. Haha, that was sweet.
 👍

One night, racing some fat girls in a base model Eclipse, I may have hit 85 in a 35, right past a cop. Who was sitting in his car, with his parking lights on. Who had been radaring people all night. He never bothered to pull out.

I got clocked going 74 in a 50 in Florida, coming just off a bridge, and when the cop asked me if I was in "some kind of hurry" I just said, no, not really, he scratched his head and gave me a "failure to obey traffic control device" which is only a 90 dollar fine.(no points).. probly cause I was in a car registered out-of-state, in FL, in tourist season...

and another time in PA, some cop pulled me in a passing zone,(one where it grows into 2 lanes!) of all places, for going 78 in a 55, but gave me the same ticket, which is still no points, just that damned 90$ fine...

But 2 days after I got my first car with pep,(roughly 1.5 months after I got my license) I got nailed to the wall for drag racing... that sucked..300$ and 6 months of no license.
Hell, i'm only 22 and I've been pulled over 11 times, if memory serves correct, resulting in 2 inspection tickets, 1 drag racing, 2 failure to obey traffic control devices, and 1 speeding ticket in Maryland, I think I was about...58 in a 45, I believe, but I'm not sure. The rest were bull...( no really! ), like my car being mistaken for a car suspected in a robbery, not switching lanes soon enough prior to turning (1200 miles from home!) and sometimes, for nothing at all.
700$ in fines, 6 months of suspension, in all. (not counting the totalled car)

Today my record is clean, as I've learned to behave a little better ( and I know how to get away with it more too! ).

I was in the car once with dad and we were in a hurry to deliver something to someone and we was driving on a 2 lane highway (1 lane eachway) and the posted limit was 100kph (60mph) and we were doing 160kph(100mph) and without notice we blew by a cop car who was going in the opposite direction. We never saw him turn around or even slow down and chase us. To this day never recieved anything from it.

i was at the stop light with two lanes in jamaica, and the two merges into one after the intersection. so on green i gunned it :D to beat the other car, as i came out the clearing and into the open i saw a guy in a suite walking from off the sidewalk and into the middle of the road... to stop me offcourse. i didn't even bother slow down because i know that i've already been seen speeding, he already had his radar gun and everything... i was caught 100km in a 50km zone... we had our little 'chat' and 'reasoning'... he let me off and walked away a happier man :dopey:

Been caught at 105 kmph (65mph) in a 60kmph (35mph) zone ($200 !) Got the ticket thru the post, then I wrote a letter back saying I'm still a student blah blah, don't have that kind of money. Then the place where the issue tickets and licences renewals etc. in my city burnt down (was not me haha), so they lost like all the tickets and stuff. Got a letter in the post that said the fine was cancelled ... lucky one !

Technically I did not get away with it ... but in any case, that's my story

As Giles Guthrie stated the law in Scotland is different to England and Wales, just about two weeks ago i was in my friends Ford Fiesta Zetec-s and he was racing a Citroen Saxo VTS doing 110mph in a 40mph zone on Bothwell road in Hamilton the saxo had gotten a bit away from him and continued down to the roundabout - my friend slowed down and handbraked his car through a gap in the central reservation, by this point there was a police van on his tail we dont even know where he came from and luckily he was on his own so he pulled him over gave him a warning about his speed and asked him if he was practising his handbrake turns and was actually a decent guy.

Seriously!! Man! Does it take some serious coconuts to make that offer? I'm not sure I'd have the nerve.

Fastest I've gone was 90 in a 55. Two lane road. A state trooper is coming in the opposite direction. He flashes his lights and passes by. Doesn't turn around. I was pretty sure he would but he never did. :D

I was stopped for 91 mph in the Neon about 10 years ago on I-75.

The Florida Highway patrolman was going the otherway, and he nailed me with instant-on radar. No chance, I figured. So I slowed up, hoping to scrub off some speed, and perhaps make the ticket cheaper.

FHP makes a U-turn in the median. My red car's easy to catch now, since I'm presently doing the speed limit (70 mph). Heck, maybe he's looking for someone else...

Lights on the cruiser, and he gets right behind me. I pull over, he pulls over.

There's usually a long pause...about 2-5 minutes while they run your tag, and check everything out, access the situation (check their self-defense weapon for ammo?). He puts on the big, wide-brimmed hat. I roll down the window as he's approaching my car.

I've got that lump in my throat; but he says: "Look...I'm in a real hurry too, but I can't have you speeding! I'm warning you to slow the heck down...well, I'm going that way [points north-bound], and you're going the other way. So slow down!"

"Yes, sir!", I replied...as he was running to his car.

Whew, I was lucky. I did slow down, but that's only because I took some side roads for the way home, in case he reported me to other patrolmen.

Hah, dude that rocks to a new degree. I bet you were thrilled beyond belief when he gave you the warning!

The only time the police have seen me speeding was last year, on the way home from work. I was doing 45mph in a 30 limit. It was a road I'd been using every working day for about a year, but had recently (within the last few days) been changed from a 40 limit to a 30. It's also just round the corner - literally just round the corner - from the police station. Of course, I forgot the speed limit had been changed, and I saw a police car coming in the other direction and swore quite a bit - but fortunately he only flashed his headlights and stuck his hand out the window in a "slow down" sort of movement. I assume it was right near the end of his shift and he had a cup of tea waiting quater of a mile away.

I always stick to the the speed limit down there now, because I know that I'll see at least one police car on it a week. It's a horrid road for speed limits though - going towards the police station (the direction the cop car was going when he saw me), it starts off as a national speed limit (60mph on a single lane road) and then drops to 50, 40 and finally 30 in quick succession.

The freeway I use most often has a short straightaway about 3-4 miles down from where I get on. Usually if they are radaring they wait underneath an overpass in the shadows so the drivers can't really see them.

Thank god my car sucks ass in the speed department because I had been going about 80 down that straightaway and didn't even think about radars but out of the blue there one was in plain sight not under a overpass. :scared: I knew he had to have radared me and as I passed him I looked in my rear view mirror but nobody came!?

I was ****ing myself I actually got out of it and the only things I can think of that saved my ass is that my wheels were bigger than stock so the spedometer was off by way more than I thought (bigger = slower spinning = slower speed on the speedo??). :scared: That or the guy had just radared and was resetting when I was in his sight!? I guess they don't have "rapid fire" radar guns?? :dopey: That's the only way because 65 is the speed limit although the norm there is about 70-75.

I don't see how I could've got off going 80.

This guy has everyone beaten - though the words "let you get away with" doesn't come into it.

90 ish in a 65.

I was going north on 495 from Framingham to Stow, in the fast lane, around 10:30 in the morning on a work day. I saw the state patrolman in the grassy areas in between exits for Rt. 20 Marlborough form maybe a 1/2 mile away, but there was no reason to slow down, I was in the fast lane...he surely clocked me--I was the fastest car passing him by at least 5-10 mph--but didn't even bother to move or blink his lights, I'm sure he knew as I did that by the time he had pulled out I would be long gone...

(as a precaution I took the Rt. 62 Hudosn exit and went to Stow that way, in case he called ahead...)

I got pulled over for being RIGHT up the arse of an unmarked police car on the motorway. He was in the fast lane, he should have been in the middle lane because it was empty. I was running late for work and was literally inches from his bumper because they were in my way. This was doing about 95, I was flashing my lights and everything! I was in a foul mood and had the old 'red mist'.

Anyway I didn't realise it was an unmarked car, lights come on, they indicate left and pull me into a slip road. Saw the camera that was pointing at me and everything............. In short, I got a lecture and they let me go.

The luckiest thing was if they'd pulled over, I would have shot past them and got ticketed for going into 3 figures, which would have meant going to court and everything. How lucky is that?!??

btw, our speed limit is 70 on the motorways.

Michigan peeps represent! 👍

Personally I've been let go with 71mph in a 55 zone, and 82 in a 65 zone. Remaining calm & being completely honest really goes a long way.

A good friend of mine is a Michigan State Trooper; a few years ago when he was based out of Hart (west side of the State) he pulled over an older gentleman for 130mph in a 65 zone on an empty stretch of US-31. He was driving a Corvette ZR-1 and was totally honest; it was his son's car and he didn't get to drive it much, so when he had a chance he liked to open it up a bit. My friend-being a big Chevy fan and performance buff-was just as honest and told him he would probably do the same thing himself. He advised the ZR-1 driver to proceed with caution and not to do that sort of thing when he was around, and let him go.

WHAT!!!???!!! I'm a Michigonian and I have never been let off a ticket...EVER!

jeez...lucky

Last night I was doing something this site doesn't permit speaking about versus an MR2 AW11.

I was doing about 90mph, and I saw him slow down, so I start braking.
I get down to around 65, and I see a cop drive passed me, and take an exit.

He HAD to have seen us both, and he had to have known what we were doing.
But he ignored it, and went on his way.

I couldn't stop laughing afterward.
