Fastest mucle cars

Ok, I didn't see any thread like this, so I decided to make one. I want to see who can get there muscle car to go the fastest. There are a few simple rules:

1. You must use the test track: Top speed run
2. You may use NOS.
3. You may not use a game shark or a hybrid program to make your car faster.
4. I may ask for photos or videos of any absurd time.
5. The only cars that may be used are pre- 1975 American-made production cars. The only exeptions are newer Mustangs and Camaros. New Corvettes or Vipers are not to be used, and the Shelby Cobra isn't allowed either.
6. Wheelies ARE allowed, but good luck trying to get one of these cars to wheelie. Please state if you do get it to wheelie.

I will post the top speeds here.

1. Musclecarchris - 2002 Chevrolet Camaro SS -615 BHP -247.21 MPH (come on, can't anyone beat this?)

*NOTE* This isn't the same as the 300 MPH club or vegas dragstrip club.

This contest is very interesting, i could post some speed ;)

Could you post a list of cars that are permitted, for simplicity's sake? :)

Right 👍

A clear List of Musclecars is required ;)

Let's put up one then. In my opinion these are the true muscle cars, the modern models are just sports cars but then again I'm not the one who decides.

Chevrolet Camaro SS '69
Chevrolet Camaro Z28 302 '69
Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 '70
Chevrolet Corvette Coupe (C2) '63
Chevrolet Corvette Stingray L46 350 (C3) '69
Dodge Charger 440 R/T '70
Dodge Charger Super Bee 426 Hemi '71
Mercury Cougar XR-7 '67
Plymouth Cuda 440 Six Pack '71
Plymouth Super Bird '70
Pontiac Tempest Le Mans GTO '64
Shelby Cobra 427 '67
Shelby Mustang G.T. 350R '65

i totally agree with you on the list Greycap, a Dodge Viper would also be a Muscle-Car, but the one on your list, are the true ones.

Thanks, Greycap, I thought you might come up with something here ;)

Seems that, in addition to that list, all Mustangs and all Camaros are allowed? Is this going to stand? If so, I might borrow your 2002 Camaro :P

I'll whip up a few speeds for this one, purely out of interest. It could teach me something about the old muscle cars, too.

I'll throw the Buick run in as well...:scared:

(I think this car might actually be able to hit 300 mph, or at least high 290's. It's just so unstable in the corner once it hits about 230 mph. 262.42 mph is the top end so far for me without banging into something on the way there....crap....)

It would appear that my enthusiasm for the nasty green Buick may have been a little over-the-top....for though I figured out the corner handling problem, I am now stuck at the 268 mph wall.... :banghead: 👍

MusclecarChhris, could i suggest a few thing?can you do a leaderboard like the one in the 1000m Sprint Time Challenge thread?and can you please [/B]BANNED[/B] the wheelie cheat, cause i dont want anyone to get a 2000+mph top speed and cant be beaten! But still, this is your thread,i have no right to complain (am i?). Hope i could post some good top speed on my 'vettes (c2 or c3)(and i think its unlikely to pull a wheelie without CHEAT)

Just my opinion, but the Buick Special should definitely be outlawed as it's not a '62 car but a tuner from the 21st century...

The Buick Special is based on the 62 Buick Skylark, it's most definitely a 60's car. Granted it came with a small V8 and produced nothing like 800+hp, it did have 10:1 compression. 👍 (that's not to say SB's can't produce 800+ hp)

Whether you want it available for the list is one thing, but it came in many configurations with various engines.

I don't care one way or another, don't matter to me I just use what's available. :sly:

however, Buick Special still has advantage to regular muscle cars, just like R-tune has advantage to original R32 GT-R V-Spec II. I think I might give this a shot later, there's a lot more speed to get from these fat old barges.:sly:

I blame early morning. I naturally meant S-Tune. luckily Greycap isn't here, he would had pulled a rank on me :nervous: anyways, I'm having a go at Superbird.

edit: Superbird reached 392km/h, and Shelby Cobra got all the way up to 413km/h. (255mph+) Next, I'll try charger. seems to be that supercharging is the way to go.

Hmmm, more flying fish speed... :sly: (ur up SD) 👍

(I raised it a little, cause I figure you're that good... :nervous: )

Just for the heck of it, here's a Camaro SS 350 run.

That's very good speed for Plymouth Cuda, but I got little faster. I didn't take pic because there is still room for improvement.
Plymouth Cuda 440 Six Pack 254.29mph

I tried also Buick Special little bit. It is so unstable in the corner, I was just all over the track. Best I got was 265.XX mph. So it was time to change car.

Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 '70 228.14mph
Chevrolet Corvette Stingray L46 350 '69 237.59mph

Gidde up 👍

Yep the Buick is a little twitchy. Sorta like a '69' 340 Swinger, you just kinda ride it out around corners and then let it straighten out and hang on..:scared:

6. Wheelies ARE allowed, but good luck trying to get one of these cars to wheelie. Please state if you do get it to wheelie.

I did, and still do regularly. 67 Cougar, 505 HP. What speed? 0-20mph.

I really did!

Hold on 1 second.

HERE WE GO!

Well the real definition of a muscle car is a high powered American car from the late 60's to early 70's (up to 1973 was good). In that time period American auto manufacturers were battling over power and speed until the dreaded oil embargo which American cars still have yet to recover from in my opinion (also due to some interference with other countries vehicles :grumpy:)

I've just read this thing about American muscle car competition. Well i would like to post my score but it seems like you didn't class Chapparal 2D as a muscle car??????

Anyway I might be wrong but if it's a muscle car i got 283 mph !!!!

:D

Peace
