In GT3 there were only 2 views: the back of the car and the cockpit view.
Now in GT4 they have added a new view which i didnt use much until the past week or two and i have noticed my times have improved on all tracks and i can overtake more easier (like it was a challenge before! :sly: ) but now i can do it more neater.
Has anyone noticed this or prefer the other driving views and for what reasons?

I noticed it, and it's probably a useful view because it's up higher so you can see more.

But I didn't like it because it's an unrealistic point of view to drive from since it's actually above the roof of the car.

I really wish they had included a view from the window looking over the hood. I'm fine with not seeing the dash... but I would like to see my hood.

I had need 4 speed hot persuit on my pc a while back and the cockpit veiw was actually inside the car like in some rally games and my favorite feature was when you switched the lights on and the cockpit lit up too. this was especialy fun driving in the dark with my steering wheel in an evening track.
It would be so cool if they did this with GT4 BUT nfs only had about 20 cars tops. If it was to be done in GT4 we probally would still be waiting for its release right now!!

I'm very satisfied with the roof camera that they added to GT4. I really adds depth & realism. Now what would really be awesome is a fully animated interior. I guess a dash board, steering wheel & hood would be realistic enough.

I currently race in the normal in-car view. When I use the roof cam, I feel like I'm driving too high, and thus, I normally don't race with it as my main camera angle.

I searched before i started the thread but that didnt come up?

it gotta be inside view for me everytime! the outside view is unrealistic, after all, gt is a racing game, and not a handgliding simulation. the second outside veiw does have its merits though.

I searched for "camera view" and it eventually came up, but this thread is fine, we should have another topic like this, anyway. I merely posted it because I thought you would like to look at it.

Oh i took it the wrong way, i thought you were trying to destroy the thread! :nervous:

Never mind its ok. just as long as the thead stays active.

I'm starting to like the roof cam too. For some reason the view makes it feel more like you are inside the car. I wish they had added a rear view mirror in this view, it would have been nice.

Yeah, I'm all about the roof cam. I always used the outside the car view in GT 1-3, but I really like the roof view in GT4. Makes it a lot easier to drive quickly. Bumper cam is too close to the ground :yuck:

Of the 3 camera views, i like the one over the roof best, however I don't really use it because I dink it is unrealistic. It is up the roof instead of in the car. It does provide best view for driving, but i drive with cockpit view all the time because i like the more realistic view, with the mirror, and the blur effect when hitting wall.

I like the view and I don't. :indiff:
Some of the cars look weird in that view, almost like they didn't do enough to the car for that view, where as others look amazing.
Mainly, i've only driven in the view at my friends with his wheel, and even then, its because thats the view he drives in, and he gets fussy if I change the view. Still waitin for his set to drop, if ya know what I mean. lol

Normally I just drive in the behind the car view, find it easier to drift with, as well as tell how far apart from other cars I am while racing. Maybe if I had a wheel i'd change views, but for now, i'm use to this view. 👍

new roof camera for me...
but if it's like the Test Drive interior for the PS3 in GT5...i will be dam happy

I use the cam, where all you see is track....I feel like I can push my the car harder. Its the view Ive been using since the first GT.

From GT1 till GT3 I had always used the outside view since I never really liked the one right in front of the bumper, I just had a strange feeling driving with it. But now for GT4 siiiiiiick roof cam and that's now the only view I use all the time. I can see exactly where I enter in the curve and when it's the right time to floor it and exit with the best possible speed. Thumbs up to PD for that new cam. 👍

The roof camera is great because of two reasons I believe:

1. You can see where each wheel is on the track, and can cut really straight lines or close corners while racing.

2. It's a bit higher up so you can see more of the upcoming track and anticipate each corner, and how to approach each corner.

bumper cam for me thnx... I just cant drive with other views.... come to think of it i cant drive anyhow :p

roof cam should have been lowered to bonet cam me thinks

👍 hand gliding camera! lol :)

i use that view as i find sometimes with the bumper cam i make mistakes when overtaking.

I would prefer a real cockpit view similar to the fantastic GTR in car view. 👍

I can't decide!

On the one hand, the roof cam is unrealistic because in a real car you would not have that much visibility. On the other hand, you can definitely get your lines better in the roof cam (unless youre REALLY familiar with every part of the circuit you are racing).

Then you gotta take into consideration the resolution of the game is too low for some tracks, and you cant see far enough ahead (i.e the view of the road from such a low angle becomes blurry or pixellated and you cant see far enough through the corners).

However on other tracks like Nurburgring for example are easy because there is enough elevation and camber to avoid the blurring/pixellation of the track ahead.

I think the roof cam is just as realistic as the bumper cam because in real life you dont get the ground rushing beneath your feet and in a real car you dont really sit that low. With some cars the roof cam is more realistic like with the Zonda which is wide and low.
I also like the cockpit and roof cam compared to rear cam because the car sounds much better.
turn volume up for full experience (and disturb neighbours!) :trouble:

i like the roof cam you just see the track the best without feeling that your not driving a car

I think the roof cam is as close to real as it gets (in GT4). Yeah, a hood or dash cam would have been better, but they're not in, so the roof cam is the best. I don't see how some of you guys can race with your nose an inch above the pavement. I always picked the chase view in the previous GT games, and I still use it for the most part (why have all those beautiful cars and not be able to see them?!). I had a friend that couldn't even tell me what car he used to win a given race because he was in the nose cam and never even saw his car after he got in it. I'm trying to get used to roof cam, since I think its the most real, but its hard to keep away from what I'm most comfortable with, and I miss watching my car as I drive it.

lol, we'll have to make do with what we have right now

There is way too much bodyroll effect with the bumpercam, not to mention you are only 1 foot off the ground.

Both the bumpercam and roof cam are unrealistic. But roof is better because you can actually see, and it feels like your driving a racecar, not sailing a ship.
