EDIT: To all the guys who live outside the UK and enjoy Evo - Why not get a 12 month overseas subsrciption? I'm sure the prices would be far more reasonable then.
The overseas subscription isnt really much cheaper, It's still around $100 for 12 months. :indiff:

Car and Driver's prose is far and away the best in any car magazine. Comparing it to any other car magazine (dare I say almost any other periodical?) is like comparing Dickens to Harry Potter.

Plus, C&D has John Phillips and he's a total trip.

I like Car and Driver. They have a good sense of humor and they're not afraid to mince words.

I just realised I used the phrase wrong and what I meant to say was "..they don't mince words." Oh well.

Don Schroeder.... that is my dad's name... but he is still alive and.... 67 or omsething ancient >_>

I get Car and Driver in the mail, along with Autoweek. I'm planning on subscribing to Sport Compact Car if I evet get off my lazy ass and mail something.

Car and Driver is nice cause they look at a variety of stuff, same with Autoweek. SCC has a decent amount of quality info on tuning and the likes...

And least I did see Super Street mentioned... (me shudders)

They also have Brock Yates (no, not the Australian one), who's certifiably insane.

Agreed. Sometimes they can't quite stop themselves from having the stereotypical pretentious Brit attitude toward us unwashed redneck Yanks.

- We try our best :sly:

maybe its because your cars just don't make sense on our roads?

I must be the only non-ricer in the world that has a subscription to Super Street. Those guys are funny, and most of the cars they feature are decidedly not ricetastic.

Scaff
BTW anyone in the UK Auto Express have an offer on this week, get '50 Years of Ferrari' on DVD for £1.95 P&P, as well as other offers from Duke video. Just ordered that and 'Porsche - The Legendary Cars' both on DVD for under 11 quid.

Ordered yesterday morning, arrived this morning. Working from home today so had a quick look at lunch time and they are both excellent.

Any one in the UK, get a copy of Auto Express, even if you just get the Ferrari one, its 240 mins and covers every model (as far as my quick look shows) between 1947 and 1997. Well worth £1.95!

Speaking of Car and driver, has anyone seen the episode of Monster Garage that Car and Driver writer Larry Webster was on ? Larry Webster, IMO has one of the worlds best jobs, and then he goes on a show like that, and rednecks yelling at him, yadda yadda yadda, I would have just stuck with the racing... ( breaking escalade windows )

My overall favorite car magazine would have to be Option 2. Their balance of new car coverage, tuned car coverage, event coverage, and technical advice and how-to articles is perfect.

For english language magazines, I'd say my favorite "Car Magazine" would be EVO.
Tuning or Racing magazine honors would go to Grassroots.

Car and Driver is usually good, and so is Road and Track.
My favorite, though, is Hemmings Muscle Machines.

I would have to say my favourite magazine is, EVO.
I've been getting it ever since the local Chapters here started carrying it.
Not too keen on getting a subscription though, I have problems with subscriptions for North American magazines, who knows what being oversea's would add to the problem.

Yeah I know :indiff: Those magazines had just about everything perfect.
1. Good reviews of new cars.
2. Interesting info on how certain car parts work and on modifying cars
3. Rally cars and coverage
4. Saloon car racing
5. Tons of other stuff

Grass-roots Motorsports. Great magazine, but with just a few too many ads. IMO, they are more trustworthy in their praise or damnation than Evo or C&D. Sometimes though, they have the opposite problem of Evo and SCI: too many articles on restoring cars that are older than I am.

Defiantely on my list of favorites. . .

I am a faithful SCC reader. Actually if it was not for SCC I would have never found this forum. I also know a few others here that owe that to SCC

I also have picked up the first two issues of MPH and must say after a little time for them to get things together it should be a good mag. Last month they even had a page about sex in the car. It was quite amusing and my co-workers have agreed.

A little off subject, but I also find myself going through Chilton and Haynes manuals at Barnes and Noble for insight on the car itself. If you know what you are doing and what to look for you can find certain gems in most cars by reading the technical build and design of a car.

I like Motor Trend but i havent read it in the last 3 or 4 months, also like Motor, but is a local magazine, you dont now it at least that you live in Bogota

Evo.

I have tried Top Gear occasionly but unless there is something special with it i don't bother, mainly because I think Top Gear isn't written to the same standard as Evo.

Anyone see where they took the 350Z this month in Evo!? :D :D
