Of all the cars in the Mitsubishi Evo series, I think the Evo3 is the coolest. It's the only car in my GT1 garage right now because of its acceleration and its responsive handling. What about you guys? (LanEvos from GT2 and GT3 included)

I can't figure out why the AI race-mod Evolution IV does so badly in the GV300 and the GT-I Cup.

It should do much better than it does.

It seems especially strange when you learn that Kazunori Yamauchi is a Lancer fan.

AI stands for Artificial Intelligence.

That is, when I use "AI" I am referring to the computer-controlled cars (Evolution IV in this case).

Maybe you need to increase the difficulty setting for a challenge... Or maybe the driver of the Evo. IV is none other than Seiji Iwaki... :)

Okay, here's what I mean.

Here's a not atypical GV300 result from GT1.

Car: Nissan [R]Fairlady Z Version S Twin Turbo 2 Seater
Qualified: 1st(+0.869) 1:43.661new Cr20,000
Result: 1st
1st:* [R]Z 2seater turbo -- 1-38:50.0new
2nd: [R]GT-R LM ----------- +248.043 (1-42:58.0) 2 laps
3rd: [R]Impreza Rly Edition +294.377 (1-43:44.4) 2 laps 8-(
4th: [R]EXIV 200GT -------- +413.804 (1-45:43.8) 3 or 4 laps
5th: [R]Lancer EvoIV GSR -- +450.995 (1-46:21.0) 4 laps
6th: [R]Accord Sedan ------ +600.800 (1-48:50.8) 5 or 6 laps
Pits: 12,24,36,48
fl(4): 1:34.444

Note how the "AI" EXIV 200GT beats the "AI" Lancer.

Here is my win with the EXIV 200GT (very close, would be difficult to repeat)...

Car: [R]Corona EXIV 200GT
Qualified: 6th(+2.359) 1:47.451
Result: 1st
1st:* [R]EXIV 200GT ------- 1-41:41.2
2nd: [R]NSX-R LM GT2 ------- +13.706 (1-41:54.9)
3rd: [R]R32GT-R'91 -------- +48.932 (1-42:30.1)
4th: [R]EXIV 200GT ------- +253.507 (1-45:54.7)
5th: [R]Lancer EvoIV GSR -- +294.532 (1-46:35.7)
6th: [R]LANTIS Type R ----- +386.868 (1-48:08.1)
Pits: 15,30,45
fl(48): 1:38.350

Here is my win with the Lancer EvoIV GSR (tuned with only TS3, same as the AI, AFAICT)
A fairly easy win, which I'm sure I could repeat...

Car: [R]Lancer EvoIV GSR
Qualified: 1st(+1.464) 1:43.260
Result: 1st
1st:* [R]Lancer EvoIV GSR - 1-39:44.8
2nd: [R]CASTROL Supra GT -- +152.827 (1-42:17.6) 1 lap
3rd: [R]GT_R LM ----------- +187.397 (1-42:52.2) 1 lap
4th: [R]Impreza Rly Edition +239.040 (1-43:43.8) 2 laps
5th: [R]Lancer EvoIV GSR -- +385.492 (1-46:10.3) 3 laps
6th: [R]Accord Sedan ------ +552.599 (1-48:57.4) 5? laps
Pits: 15,30,45
fl(18): 1:35.884

Interestingly enough, the EXIV 200GT beat an "AI" version of the same car. Similarly with the Lancer EvoIV GSR. Note that my Lancer beat the AI Lancer by over two more minutes than my EXIV 200GT beat the AI EXIV 200GT. Let alone the fact that the AI EXIV200GT normally beats the AI Lancer.

The AI results might lead one to conclude that the EXIV 200GT is an easier car than the Lancer Evo IV (at least with the AI TS3 only mods) with which to win the GV300, but that is certainly not the case.

Hmm. The AI NSX-R LM GT2 isn't always too cautious. :) (Though it's true it is slower than most non-beginnerswith the same car).

Actually, bad gearing is another problem the AI cars have sometimes.

Well, once again, my point is that even when you compare the AI Evo IV to other AI cars only, it does worse than I would now expect.

:D (me OT?) Too bad they couldn't put a true rally race-mod in the game...

I like the Evo IV but perhaps mostly because it's a prize car.

Actually I like the non-prize version race-mod EVo IV colours better.

I never could get good enough with an Evo to win the Normal Series, though, not even when the NSX was absent. :(

Um. There's not a lot of choice in GT1 is there?

The used Evo III GSR, the new Evo IV GSR and the (essentially identical) prize Evo IV GSR...

Oh. You said GT2 and GT3 could be included, too...

I like the "Tommi Makinen Edition".

Or the Evo VI Rally car prize from the SSR5 All-night race in GT2.

Wait no. Checking the prize list reminded me of my true favourite!

The Mine's Lancer Evolution V from GT2.

( How many syllables are there in "Mines"? )

Mitsubishi finally pulled their fingers out of their tight asses and we now have evo's being sold in Australia. In the flesh they are quite mean looking and if they drive anything like they do in gt, then its worth the 70 grand.

Evo IV's and VII's seem the same to me... if theres any difference im guessing its minimal. Well mitsubishi know very well the saying "If it ain't broke...

The Evo VII handles well in GT3, though the arcade mode version tends to understeer at times... By the way, did the Evo VIII show up already?
