If you consider Def Leppard a "hair band" then that's my choice. Otherwise if not, the Scorpions get my vote.

Mine was Ozzy Osbourne, though I admit that with a slight dose of embarrassment post The Osbournes show...

I guess his band qualified as a "hair band" as they all had a hell of a lot of hair..

I was just thinking about it, and I don't think there's any hairband that I really like at all. That's weird, since I listen to pretty much every genre of music.

I guess the one I am the closest to liking is Twisted Sister, solely for the song 'I Wanna Rock'.

edit: haven't seen you for a while TTJ, welcome back.

I gotta go with Poison. I liked Guns 'n' Roses, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, just as much. But mentioning Poison almost always gets people going. And their "Open up and say Ahh" is just too awesome. I still like the album as much as I did, back in 1988.

Poison is a decent choice as is Bon Jovi--both of which I am a secret fan of. lol Twisted Sister is a rather odd choice, they had only a small handful of decent songs that I like.

... but when they did have a hit, it was always a big one. I didn't like them much though. I thought they were taking the mickey.

I actually also really liked Def Leppard, particularly Pyromania and Hysteria. In fact, I'd suggest that Hysteria is the perfect album to play to your kids if one day you need to explain to them what an '80s hair band was. It was the album to play while cruising down to the beach on your summer holiday...

Oh the nostalgia!

Indeed. Def Leppard is probadly my favorite band next to old-school Metallica.

Ratt. Don't know if they count or not. But I definately think they were the best hair band/glam metal band IMO. Of course Iron Maiden was the best band in the 80's :sly:

Iron Maiden? Maybe top 5 metal bands maybe...but Metallica was very hard to beat in the 80's in terms of heavy metal. :D

Hair music was rubbish. Anyone that is still into it, I believe, still thinks they are in the eighties haha. But each to his own.

On the other hand Scorpions aren't too bad but thats as far as I'm willing to go.

And Maiden were never hair metal, they were just heavy at times. But brilliant. Anyone that calls Judas Priest hair metal needs to get a life.

I grew up on "Hair Metal," so this is a good one for me!

In no particular order:

- RATT
- Skid Row
- Bon Jovi
- Motley Crue
- Whitesnake (here I go again!)
- Guns and Roses
- Scorpions
- Def Leapord

I still kick it pretty hard to all of 'em, particularly Def Leapord and Bon Jovi.

Well in my opinion Iron Maiden and Metallica were the best bands of the 80's. Depending on what I feel like listening to I switch which I think was better.

I wasn't saying they were hair metal. I was saying that they are way better than most hair metal bands IMO.

Except for the fact most hair bands weren't playing metal.

I'd have say Motley Crue as my top choice. Jovi, Def, & Poison are among them.

Can't fault that (much), but I would say that to me Iron Maiden now sound dated, though I still like them, but '80s Metallica, Master of Puppets in particular, just sounds like great heavy metal.

Poison
Great White (Are they hair metal?)
Quiet Riot
Twisted Sister
RATT

I always think of hair when those bands are mentioned.

1.Dokken
2.Ratt
3.Skid Row
4.Motley Crue
5.WhiteSnake

Honorable mentions

Slaughter
White Lion
Guns n' Roses
Dangerous Toys
Stryper
Tesla

-Warrant
-White Lion (Mane Attraction? Big Game?!? Pride?!?!?)
-Motley Crue
-Poison
-Scorpion

AND NUMBER 422: Ratt

Iron Maiden isn't a hair-metal band, are they... never mind.

Isn't it 'hair-metal', as well?
