Since there isn't much written here about FC Online (I suppose that others, like me, are still clearing the offline trophies and challenges), I decided to open a thread about it, just to make sure we share our experiences and they don't get lost in the main thread.

So, here's mine. I know that the promised patch will solve some online issues, but anyway last night I went online for the first time with this game. I didn't know what to expect, my online experience resumes to TRD3 (excellent) and GT5P (very poor). So, my first pleasant surprise was to meet the options create session and join session. Private rooms 👍

I chose "join", just to see what would appear. Then, a screen comes up to set what kind of session I would like to join (by car, track, assists, racing line, can't recall them all).

"Ok, this is like TRD3, sounds good".

Then, a screen appeared saying that the game didn't detect a microphone (or something like that), and I thought "yes, voice chat is available". I have my headset put away since I stopped playing TRD3 online, so didn't bother to go for it. I'll have it ready next time ... 👍

After that, the sessions available became listed. Only one, in Monza. So, I joined. There were three racers there, all from Spain. Their status was "In game", so I guessed they were racing.

And then I missed TRD3, because I searched the button "Spectate", but didn't find it. More than that, in TRD3, when you're waiting in the lobby, you have a scrolling text at the bottom saying what is the leader's current lap (and percentage of completion), and how many laps is the full race. In FC, you can only guess if your waiting will be long or short.

So I waited. The race eventually finished, and they all returned to the lobby. I didn't find a text chat option (again, like in TRD3), so I couldn't say anything to the spanish guys.

Only thing I could do was to press "Ready", and that's what I did. Then I entered the race, thinking it would be Monza again (didn't notice any change in the screen), but it was Hockenheim, something I only found out after going off in Turn 1

It was a 5 minutes race, and, by the end of lap 2, I was back in 2nd (out of 4), but miles away from the guy in first, I think the only one that really knew how to drive in this game.

And then, they started quiting the race. I thought "ok, now if the host quits (the host was the leader of the race) the session will end" (that's what happens in TRD3). And, he did quit, but the session remained, and I made a full lap alone on the track finishing the race.

Only then, when the game was loading what I assumed would be the lobby screen, I received a message saying that the session was going to close.

So, what do you think? Does this game have a "host migration" feature, in a way that the race goes on to its completion, and only the lobby becomes unavailable?

Please share your online experiences, I would really like to understand how it works in this game, not having to try it all by myself :)

My only online experience so far was rather laggy. especially when users are entering the lobby and leaving again. This all happend with the F430 Challenge.

Something I cannot find is where you get the general info/search field when joining a race you can never see in the results which car is used online. Or did I mis something ?

Further I did 2 races online, but with 2 persons racing and one in the kitty litter it wasn't much fun. Just not enough people I found online.

In the start when it first was released, people was totally Happy and went online, only to discover, that it has so many problems, to make it work..

I actually things allot about this game, and i'm very confident, that System¤3 has the right finger on the pulz, they would like FC to be among the best, so they will Update FC to be working properly, But as it is now, people has went away again, waiting for the patch too arrive, Because now you only frez your PS3 as host, It often happens when going out of a game, after a Online race, if you tried to continue with a new race in the lobby, people will looose the host, and the host will frez..

hope it makes somekind of understanding what i write hehe..

Gt5 ya that's a bIg Problem for the Game ( Gt5) because now it's worthless as a online racer, 2 out of 10 works great, the rest of the 8 is awfull..

But with FC on the run, GT5 needs to come out with something thats gonna make the online experience worth it..

SO ya, System¤3 Please make FC the coolest we have for Now, and when GT5 is getting into the right functions, we will just have 2 amazing games to compete in, there is Room enough for Both, and even more games, My Team also Competes in Richard burns Rally (PC) and probably Race07(PC) and not to forget F1 edition (ps3)

Online racing is the best experience, when it works. what we need is the Industri to make a big word out of Online racing, we need them to discues the good and the bad things around online racing.. in all langues that is.. otherwise we wont have Normal servers ( quick-races) that works with out to much pain, we will only have private servers with the right attitude, and what a Big job it's gonna be to find all thoose passwords, I love the idea of private servers, but also the idea of quick-racing, with people that has the right attitude and understanding of why it's important to learn the basics of Virtual racing.. Please Discuss it open on all gamer sites, and conferences like E3 and hwat ever the are called..
