...with Gran Turismo 5.

So after more than a month following this forum and all of its developments on GT5 I decided to finally open an account after I got my DFGT yesterday.
Man, this thing made me fall in love with GT5 all over again. I have been a fan since GT1, even though I was nothing more than a little 9 or 10 y'old little nose picker by then, but I never got quite as hooked on a game as this time.
I wonder how it would be if I had the money for a G27...

Anyways. I just created a rally course to try the wheel on dirt tracks and I got scared. The thing gets so stiff and jumpy compared to road racing that it feels like it could come apart and I'm only using it on F.Feedback 2 atm.
What force feedback are you people using your DFGT on, on rally courses?

This is how I felt about GT5:P when I bought my DFGT about six months after first playing that game.

It felt like a completely different game. So much more immersive with the wheel compared to the DS3.

I know what you mean about the FFB after the first time you use it. It really changes the feel of the game. I have mine set to 7 BTW. I feel that's just enough for me without making me worry about it shaking the wheel to bits during the rally stages.

G27 set to 1. If I raise it up it controls me a little more than I prefer. Seems like I turned it down when I got to the nascars and formula cars. But I can barely feel the weaker cars.

I think GT5 has made me fall in love with other games again.

Don't get me wrong. GT5 is great, but I don't like it as much as I loved GT4, GT3, GT2, and GT1. Nor do I love it as much as some racing sims.

I LOVE my DFGT!!! I currently use 7 force feedback with power steering on. I love the rally races because of all the bumps and vibrations you feel through the wheel. That has to be the best part I'd say!

OP, go and do the Seb Loeb challenge at Chamonix and try not to get freaked when you car hits the ice...

The wheel works great most of the time but I had to change to DS3 to complete special event gravel and snow.

for GT3 i bought my first logitec wheel i have never looked back. i cant even imagine what its like with the controller. i only use the controller for the menus and setu-up etc etc. FFB seeting are at 10 and simulation for my DFGT. plus when gt3 & 4 came out with their respective wheels future-shop gave away a free set of speaker. just stereo 2.1 but FREE. not this time around :( would have needed to be surround 5.1

glad to hear you bought a wheel enjoy!!!

the snow/ice FFB in GT5 is the most real in the series yet! driving without any TCS ABS the wheel behaves just like in real life, amazing i was left with my jaw on the floor.

I also love my DFGT, have it set to 6 i think with power assisted steering off. Turned the feedback up to 9 the other day to see what its like, but was so stiff that it started hurting my wrists after a while - it did get me a bit of exercise though!

The FFB on the DFGT is way too weak. I think setting it to 10 may STILL be too weak. Nowhere near as strong or as detailed as the G27's. If only my G27 pedal set didn't decide to bite the dust. Oh well, now it's time to wait until I get a new Fanatec wheel and then I will be able to have some more clutch & gated shifter fun. (Even though the clutch in this game is incredibly unrealistic.)

10 feed back everything off. Its like going to the gym.

I order my DFGT but take years to get to my home:ouch::ouch:, i want it :nervous::nervous:

I'll see if I can go try that tonight. Right in the middle of my college examinations...

I know the feeling... It was a royal pain in the ass to find one here in Portugal. It has been sold out everywhere since the release of GT5.

Anyway I was a bit over half-way through the game when I got the wheel and I felt like I had to start it all over again from scratch and never touch the ds3 again. I've been kicking ass through the licenses and I never thought that I could do it. B and A all golded by now.

LOL - I was the same - I bought GT1 when I was doing my degree finals :dunce:

I'm already in love with this game, I'm afraid if I get a wheel, (and get good with a wheel) I will never leave my house again! Just kidding..sort of.

Woooaaahh woah woah.. Hey now!
You're not using the lap-mount option, are you? ...you know, the one you pinch between your legs?

If you are.... Dude, TMI :crazy
Haha

It's also like driving a REAL car, from 'back in the day', before any of this fancy power steering, ABS, TCS, YAW, ASM, DCCD, etc... Or try pulling the relative fuses from your car, and go to a track day... Haha, however, just remember that there's no-powaaaaa to anything but your feet and hands! ;)

Hey! Taking a break from my microbiology exam preparation to post my thoughts on the higher FFeedback settings.

I did as many said and pushed the FF up to 8 and it feels so much better. As crazy as it might sound it feels way smoother than at the lower settings even on rally courses. It feels stiffer and more progressive and that weird sensation of being steering a boat at 250kmh on a straightline is gone. Man I'm so in love with this... My pharmacy degree is going down the drain this year...

whats with all these comments about the FFB being a workout??!? you guys serious or joking?? i hope you guys are joking and i hope you guys havent entered the GT academy; i would want to see you guys die during the physical exams. i have always thought the FFB is weaker than a real life car. an F1 team sometime between 2001-2008 ran without power steering, they were a poorer team and they couldnt afford a light system, i cant remember all the details but the drivers used to be exhausted after monaco.

It wasnt so much of a workout for me than it got the heart rate up from the 'exercise'. I usually drive my car once a week, or once a fortnight, so even get sore ankles when driving in real life sometimes, cos i'm not used to it.
