It clearly says "matte paint" when you chose colors.. You can click the menu to the left of your paint items and pick solid, matte, pearl, metallic paints and so on..

I mean when you buy the car…none of the colors are named “matte” nor does it state it’s texture.

You can get matte color from the Lexus LFA car. Also, you can get Matte grey from simply logging in to GT5 every day (you get random colors every login)

I’m well aware. I have 13 different kinds of matte paint chips, I just wanted to know if this is one I don’t have yet.

As I know of there are only 2 matte "Style" paints you available to buy from the new car dealer; the Lexus LFA in Matt black and the SLS AMG you can buy its the AMG Monza Gray Mango. Translated it does not have matte in its name but does show up on the sort list under a matte finish. As far as the Cali roadster I have tried a couple colors and none have come up under the sort option as a matte finish so I wouldn't waste my money if I were you.

The FT-86 has matte black available too.

IRL, the color you are talking about is called Grigio Opaco, and was first introduced with the 430 Scuderia, but it's only in 2010 that the first Grigio Opaco Scud was produced at the factory. The color was made popular by the 16M.

The reason why it's not featured in GT5 is probly because Grigio Opaco is an out of range color, made upon request for customers willing to pay an extra 18-20k.
GT5 only has the "basic" Ferrari colors and some popular options like Rosso Scuderia.

Oddly, Ferrari delivered the first Grigio Opaco 430 Scuderia without the stripes. They claimed the stickers wouldnt stick on the matte finish.

here are few pics from the lucky owner. :

I have both of those. :) I can back-up my game and buy each color one by one. If it's not the one, just restore the old save and try again. :D

Sadly, you don't get the paint chip added to your collection when you buy this car. I bought it and wasted all that cash hoping to get that color. I should've backed-up my game…

Thank you for that delightful answer! But my questions stems from a listing on a cheat code site listing matte paints, and one was said to be a silver color available on the Ferrari California. I checked all the Ferraris, but none seem to have a matte paint available. O well.

Is this true?

Yes and yes. But it's easier to get the paint chip by buying the car rather than waiting for it to pop up in your items list. I've duplicated my chrome and matte paints over and over again after 1.05.
