The Ferrari challenge improved my skill drastically, I used to suck with manual gearing before this. I found I was forced to use and so become comfortable with manual gearing for this challenge more than any other.

I'm now able to knock off seasonal's with Tyre upgrades and most slower cars (slower than the f2007) feel like piece of cake. I haven't tried the Vettel challenge yet, I guess lots of practice on the Vettel tracks on an F2007 might be a small step towards a better race. Do drop some tips, the You Tube videos of the Vettel challenge look intimidating.

Racing is the generally the best way to get better at racing. It's why being able to jump online will all cars would be ideal.

Anyway, if you want to practice for Vettel, I suggest using a X1. Borrow one from a friend. Driving the F1's on those tracks will only learn you the tracks, it won't do much for learning the X1 because it's quite frankly a different car. Learning the X1 in the Vettel Challenge is made difficult because every time you make it mistake, it breaks your rhythm, at least it did for me.

I did start the Vettel challenge with Nurburgring, and after 5-6 (very short) attempts decided to practise and come back. Unable to maintain the speed on the corners, I guess I don't know the corners well enough to know where I can floor it and where I can't. I am studying videos of some Decent racers who Golded it with the DFGT.
