The 2007 and 2010 cars run the same engine however the 2010 car is 20kg heaver and revs 1000rpm less than the 07, the 2010 car runs slick tyres and the 2007 runs cut slicks.

F1 2007 F1 2010

weight 600kg 620kg max rpm 19000rpm 18000rpm
tyres cut slicks slicks
downforce= this can be adjusted on both cars so is N/a

The 2007 is 2.5 million more to buy because it is on avridge 1 second quicker however the 2010 is slightly nicer to drive and slightly faster on turn in......

The 2007 seems to be faster.
It also set the world record lap time at Suzuka.
Less downforce in the 2010 cars due to the removal of winglets, antlers etc.

I've only drove the F2007, I dunno about F10..

Ya know, I'm sitting at a cool 16 million and would like to grind to 20, get one of them then grind the extra money to get the other....but I really have no desire to buy them when I can't use them in events. That really just chaps my ass.

1. back up your save
2. buy one and gift to alternate account
3. reload save and gift back from alt account
4. repeat tomorrow for the other
5. own both cars and keep your money (you earned 16 mill, that's enough grinding for a lifetime).

the 07 has better aerodynamic hardware that should deliver better cornering. All the spoilers and so on were used also to fight against the open wheel setting. The cars from 2010 were forbidden to use such gizmos and mumbo jumbo. Therefore the F duct was invented to get some better aero results. But unfortunately the F duct is not implemented in the game

Mmmmm the f2007 was the last of the electronic aid era of f1 after this traction control was banned, a standard ecu was implemented and engine rev limits imposed. Overall the f2010 has more grip available better tyres and down force the engine and gearbox was angled with the gearbox end up to allow better use of the double diffuser. With the lead time to create the virtual f10 it was Probably initially modelled off the Catia design model.

The F1 2007 won the 2007 F1 Driver's Championship, the F1 2010 came in 2nd.

I see lots of misinformation in this thread.

In real life, the F10 is faster than the F2007. The F10 has MORE downforce, despite the winglets being removed, the teams all clawed back the downforce through other means. Modern F1 cars have more downforce than any F1 cars in history.

So, in the 8 weekends where rain wasn't a factor in either year, and the track configurations were identical, the F10 was a total 4.429 seconds faster than the F2007. That averages out to over half a second faster per lap per track, which is a HUGE difference in F1.

In the game, The F2007 is faster.

The F10 is likely the faster car but the trouble with the comparisons you've posted is that they assume driver performance is a constant. It won't be, even day to day. Also, are fuel states constant in these comparison?

Yes, they are both low fuel quali times. True about the driver variable, but you can't really argue with an average of over half a second per lap faster, over 8 races and spanning 3 drivers.

This thread reminds me of how much the silly rules changes have made me go from loving F1 to nearly hating it.

I really miss the era of NA V12's and even the V10

yes i know, hopefully in 2013 when the change back to little turbos, and hopefully f1 will as simplistic as it was from the start to about the late 80's.

I have yet to try either F1 in GT5. Tried the 2007 in Prologue and PSP games.

The next big change in F1 will be the introduction of 1.6 litre Turbocharged engines. I would love to see one of the old ground effect turbo F1 cars in GT. That would be a bit of a beast. May even give the X2010 a run for its money!

Where did you get your 2007 times from? Because in 2007 Q3 was ran with race fuel onboard..the Q2 times where run with low fuel though.

Anyway as an avid F1 fan this is what I think and know...the cars of 2010 did have more down force by about mid season..mainly due to the double diffuser and blown diffuse...which will be gone next year. Also they had movable front wings and the f duct (im sure the F10 in GT5 is in fduct config) although i dont know if wither have any effect in-game.

You have to remember that the 07 car will be based on the end of season car (also only one of many specs of the car as in 07 the spec from Monaco to Monza would have been very very different) which is not the same as the start of season car...while the GT5 car (given that it takes 6 months to model the car and get it in the game) sill have been based on a car that still had a lot of development left in it.

You forget the tyres. The f2007 had grooved and the f10 had slicks. That's a major diffirence.

I think you can't use them in events because there are faster cars in GT5. It's bad enough that Ferrari's best can get beaten by the FGT but Ferrari probably weren't happy to hear the fastest car in the game was designed by one of their rivals

the problem is that you're comparing Alonso to oMassa and Kimi so probably that's why it's faster :D

Don't forget ground effect coming back and reducing effectiveness of the front and rear wings can't wait

Hmm definately biased here. Ok alonso has the ability to demonstate raw speed but he needs to learn to keep his toys in the pram.

F1 cars always get faster. With the new rules by 2014 they will be as fast as they are now if not faster.

F1 cars always get faster. With the new rules by 2014 they will be as fast as they are now if not faster.

That is not the case they are done to a set of regulations and as long as the regs are stable they refine a concept(s) on a car and it will go faster. But in F1 the regs are changed almost every year some times big changes some times small so the speed of the cars doesnt always increase..infact the fastest cars where the 2004 cars. (the f2004 being the fastest of them all)

Case inpont is the regualtion change from 10 regs to the 11 regs where, adjustable front wings will be banned (although rear wings are now legal) and fducts being banned (although KERS will return)..but the biggie is the loophole that allowed double diffusers has been closed.

This is why the Formula GT is faster then all F1 Cars and more relevant even still is the X1 as this what a car could be like if they had no regualtions...infact some of the concepts on the X1 are things from F1's past that have been made illegal in F1...things like ground effect and the fan system for example.

The f10 is faster in real life partly because of the Slick tyres they are using compared to the f2007's tyres; grooved slicks.

The f2007 is faster in the game because both cars are on the same tyres.

I just got the Ferrari F1 2010, love it...but 1 slight problem with it. I went onto a night track, and the rear light doesn't come on...in the standard F1 car, the rear light is on and it makes it look cooler in the dark.

I'm hoping they fix this. Also, this makes me wish the GT5 had all the F1 cars, it looks so pretty!
