Well, the wheel will just turn off and you'll be able to turn it on again, I had this happen many times.
Interesting find, can you post a picture of the page you read it on - i'm having problems with .pdf files.

The key word is continous FFB. I have yet to drive a game where FFB is 100% constant. As an example my Fanatec wheels have always been set with fan off so the fans will kick in when the trigger temp is reached. I've done sessions where I've driven for a couple hours and the fans never came one. The only time this could be a possible concern is on some long endurance race where the wheel never gets a break on something like an oval that has no straights.

If I knew I was going to be doing some very long endurance race what I would do is be proactive and turn the fans on before I even start racing. It's easier to maintain a temperature with the cooling fan running 100% than try to bring temp back down when it's already hot.

Eh?! Is there really such a thing? I hope that's not the case with the Elite and CSW. I feel like that's a serious design flaw, especially since I sometimes drive for 2 hours straight in an endurance race. Having the wheel shut down on me halfway would be seriously bad.

This might explain the issue with disconnections Fanatec wheels are known to exibit.
I did download that, and I can't open it (bloody phone lacks memory) and I have no PC.
What page is it, I might be able to open that...

I have run 6 hours with an occasional cig break without any issues on several occasions. I am fortunate to have a job that one night a week i can bring my ps3 in. For several months i was bringing my wheel in and playing from 11pm-5am. Not once in the first 2 months did my 911 carrerre wheel give me troubles or the 5 or 6 months i was bringing my gt2 in did i experience issues.
For a while i was running ffb at 100 but have since turned it down a little bit as I was adjusting other settings on wheel to get a better feel.
Only reasons i stopped racing at work were 1) no internet there, aspec got boring fast 2) hardmounted my wheel and pedals to my rig.

So, i would say not to worry about it.
Disclaimer: i take no responsibility if you fry your wheel ;)

I gave heard the the Elite does not suffer from prolonged use.
Stays as cool as a cucumber.

That would be good. The fan is bigger so there is more air displacement. Still the issue never seems to have been corrected with CSR though. I guess if you have issue with it stopping to work you need to install better fans yourself with more air displacement. It's not something that might fall under warranty I guess if it's during prolonged continues use as they warn about it in the manual.

Thanks wishywish.

And yes, this does explain all the disconnections I've had - all the times wheel was boiling hot (and fans are working fine).

Put in some watercooling. ;)
Seriously it does suck to have disconnects. Are you sure both work? Since others like Caz don't seem to have issues.
I wonder if one could put in a bigger fan somehow. Hrm...

That is an advisory, and it does not contain the phrase "the wheel will turn itself off on you if you don't listen."

Elsewhere in the manual it states that (I'm probably slightly misquoting) if the wheel gets too hot, it will reduce the FFB to a minimal level until acceptable operating temperature is restored.

I doubt this is the direct cause of the wheel disconnects, but I suppose anything is possible, could be a flaw in the PS3 compatibility if it only happens in that mode. I had some problems in 4hr Tsukuba, although it didn't shut off, it just became unresponsive and I had to restart it myself. I also ran the 4hr Nurb race with mine with no problems whatsoever, with only a couple of short breaks. I use a GT3.

I'd treat that warning with slightly more importance than the "don't play for more than 2 hours a day" to avoid bodily harm one, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. If the wheel can't handle endurance racing then it's not worth the pricey box it comes in.

For what it's worth, I use my GT2 pretty much all day over most weekends on iRacing. I've had no overheating issues and I haven't changed any setting for fans (don't know how! lol).

:)
