Looking for an A-Spec Tune. I played with mine a little bit but can't get the damn thing to drive under control. Maxing out downforce of course helped a little but suspension changes don't really make much of a difference.

I've been working on it today, but it's a handful. It goes straight from tons of understeer straight to oversteer.

The main problem is the understeer though. It pushes through corners very badly. I also really, really wish I could tune the individual gear ratios. This car needs it badly. Considering I can spin the tires all the way through 3rd gear, using racing soft tires and TC=1, the first three gears are way, way too short.

4-7 are too tall and takes forever to get through.

Yeah, I have the tranny gear maxed out as tall as it will go to try and keep it from spinning when coming out of the corners because of those short 1-3gears

My settings now are:

Aero
70/90

Trans
298

Diff
30/60/55

Suspension
Height -5/-5
Rates 17.4/17.5
Ext 8/8
Comp 6/6
Roll bars 7/3
Camber -2/-1
toe +.2/-1

Brakes
4/1

This isn't perfect by any means but the car seems a lot more manageable

Guys, lets see if we can get this one locked down...i bet we can get it.

What do you guys find is the biggest problem with the handling of the fgt? for me its that the car doesn't seem to be able to change direction quickly enough. do you guys have that issue as well?

for me testing the car at fuji seems to work really well for this car. if there is a weakness in the tune it is going to show up at fuji.

edit: anybody want to try this and see what they think?

downforce 70/90
diff 20/35/30
transmission 249
ride height -5/0
spring rate 17.0/17.5
damper ext 8/8
damper comp 7/7
anti roll bars 7/7
camber -2.5/-1.5
toe -0.25/-0.15

this seems to be working all right. there is a pretty big change as far as how quickly the car will change direction compared to default settings.

Also, the under/oversteer balance seems to be just about right, at least for my driving style. I use a DS3 controller and not a steering wheel so too much oversteer can be difficult for me to control, however using these settings i can almost always control oversteer coming out of turns without even letting off the throttle.

I tried out your settings. Still understeers a bit, but not terrible. I managed a 1:16.5 at Fuji, which is enough to beat the Formula races, if I could just keep it on the track.

It's still right on the edge, even using a G27 I have to be really careful to not spin it. If you put a wheel off you're toast.

I have trouble beating the races because we're fast in different places. I'm faster through corners, but they're faster in the straights, so we're constantly battling back and forth, and they're constantly knocking me off the line and off the track.

Hey man thanks for your comments. i only play with a ds3 so maybe our results will be slightly different. with that setup I posted i ran 8 laps in a row of 1:14.5 or quicker.

I'm gonna spend some more time on this one and see what improvements i can make, if any. I am really having a great time with this car right now. if you put something together be sure to post it up so i can give run it a few laps.

you are definitely right about putting a wheel off...the formula gt seems to be very poorly tolerant of that no matter what. you run a wheel off the track for even a split second and you are gone...forgetaboutit lol.

although my f2007 and f10 are like that as well to some extent, but still not like how the formula gt is. if i go to nurburgring it is really difficult for me to complete a lap in the fgt without spinning out.

tried your setup jorday works great. this is the first setup anyone has offered that has worked. the car actually stays on the road. still has slight oversteer but the setup is so close to perfect its not funny. thanks man let me know if you make any changes to it.

alright fellas,

here is an alternative tune that i have created. ill start off by saying that this is probably a small improvement at best. and also, depending on driving skill, input method, and driving style this new tune could make the car more difficult to control. try them both and compare and please post your thoughts.

diff 15/20/15
ride height -5/0
spring rate 16.4/17.5
damper ext 6/8
damper comp 5/7
anti roll 5/7
camber -2.5/-1/5
toe -0.25/-0.15

brakes 4/1

now, a note on tuning the brakes. I'd recommend that you try several brake settings and decide which best suits your driving style.

I like to use 4/1 because it allows me to continue breaking as i actually start turning the car thus helping the car to change direction. The car even tolerates some light breaking right in the middle of a turn if you find that you came in too hot and are about to wind up in the grass.

If you move up to like 6/3 there is a pretty good gain in stopping power, but I find that i've got to be a lot more careful using the brakes while turning. It's very easy for me to accidentally put the car into a side slide thus causing the car to basically lose all of its speed right in the middle of the turn. not good.

If you use something like 8/7 or 8/6 there will be tremendous stopping power available, but I find that i have to scrub off pretty much all the speed i need to while i'm still travelling straight and then start turning after i've finished slowing down. if i try to brake while turning i really have problems not losing control of the car.

let's keep working on this one guys. make sure to come back and post your thoughts if you try one of these tunes. in my testing i've become quite fond of the old formula gt. she's such a beautiful girl, but man is she ever unforgiving when it comes to mistakes. that and the time window during which the car actually will tolerate small errors is a very very short window lol.

Big thanks for posting your set ups for this car...since the new update I finally got my gruby little mits on the FGT...I could barely drive this thing in a straight line its so dam fast :dopey:

I'll be trying out these settings ASAP as soon as my Bob finnishes the Championship...I got so frustrated so flung him into the car with all settings as default...he sure can drive it much better than I can lol 👍

hey guys glad you're getting some use out of these tunes.

biggest problem in tuning this car is that it stops turning when you drop the hammer due to its immense amount of power. that being said it probably does turn better than we think it's just going faster than it seems. this baby regularly hits 200 mph on portions of tracks that aren't even straight.

UPDATE: i managed to run a 1:12 on fuji with the new tune...those decreasing radius turns at the end of that track will test your skills behind the wheel that's for sure. don't hit the gas too early or you'll be going off roading lol. I had to take a break from the game for a little while because i felt like i was starting to lose my mind, but i'm making a pot of coffee right now so i can pull an all nighter and i'm gonna start working on this again in a minute. :)

what i found to work really well was turning on the driving aids, really makes the car controlable, i haven't tried the fgt race but test in tuning in other races and its night and day.

From the other thread:

So going off of the tune in the link I posted, here's my own tweak to what he's already got. I constantly messed around with lowering the ride height and played with the toe and camber, with increasingly faster lap times on the High Speed Ring.

I increased from a 0:48.647 lap up to a 0:47.052, and here's the tune I used for the faster time:

Aero: 70/90
Trans: 242 mph
LSD: 15/45/50
Height: -7/-7
Spring: 17.8/17.5
Ext: 7/8
Comp: 5/6
Roll: 7/7
Camber: -2.5/-0.6
Toe: -0.15/-0.12
Brakes: 7/4 or 7/3
Tires: Racing Soft

I'm interested in hearing opinions on my brake settings. These work for me, but I've seen a lot of people running 4/1 on their brakes.

Also, if you feel the rear end is too loose for you with my tune, reverse the toe settings to -0.12/-0.15. I found that to firm up the car more in cornering.

And also, these settings were used with no assists on at all TCS, ABS, etc.

how do you set the trans to 242? everyone puts these odd numbers in their posts and mine only lets me adjust to even numbers such as 240 or 250. please help thanks

Really? I have no idea then. I just go to fully customizable transmission, and my available speeds are like 242, 249 etc.

BTW, here's my current tune with the car. I like it better than the other one.

Aero: 70/90
Trans: 249
LSD: 15/45/55
Height: -5/-5
Spring: 17.0/17.5
Ext: 7/8
Com: 5/6
Anti-Roll: 7/7
Camber: -2.5/-0.6
Toe: -0.15/-0.12
Brakes: 4/1
Tires: Racing Soft

No assists on, but you can do what you like.

I'm a little more trigger-happy with the throttle than I should be so I was having a rough time in the FGT. Just wanted to let the "assistance-inclined" folks know that with this tune, TC @ 5, ASM On, and ABS @ 1, I'm pulling consistent 1:17-1:20 laps on Fuji Speedway. Not the fastest I'm know, but based on what I watched with B-Spec, fast enough to lap everyone. Just thought I'd offer the help.

Nevermind, the guy in first did a 1:19 on the grid start lap. Think he was doing laps in like 1:14 after that so I'll need to be faster just to hold on.

hey all. I was using a very similar tune to this one for the laguna seca endurance race. Basically it's just as above except i changed the LSD to 9/47/27. There's a huge difference in cornering when lowering that braking one from 55 to 27.

I also was able to get better times on Laguna Seca with Racing Medium tires in the back and Racing Soft in the front for some reason. Best lap time was like a 1:05.9

i know he is using mph but under the fully customizeable trans the only thing i can adjust is the top speed and can only do increments of 10.

Have you updated GT5? If you can only adjust the final drive it sounds like you might be running an older version...

To all those who've contributed tunes in this thread; I'll give them a try later, thank you :D
