Hi Guys,

This my very own research to understand which Formula car is the Best in GT and find out the Performance Point system in GT5 really fair or not.

We understand the vehicles is very different. Power, Weight, Down Force and Suspension.

To make them closer I have set up a regulation to make the research are more accurate.

I set them up are...

650PS (Reduce from 100% Engine Power)
600Kg (Weight position has fine as "45.5 - 55.5" as possible) and
845PP (fine tune the down force every click from Front and Rear and keep in 845.5PP as possible )

Gear Box are 350Km/h from Auto setup
LSD are Default
Suspension Part A are Default
Suspension Part B are Camber F/3.0 R/1.0 , Toe in F/0.0 R/0.5

TCS off
ABS 1, Brake F/5 R/5
Other Assist are off

Weak Traction reduction
No Damage

The Testing condition: Do 5 Hot laps. Stop the car while the Lap Count is 6.
Running on Spa with same car Ghost.

Before the Run, will go GT Auto to done an Oil Change & Car Wash.

The result is....

F07: 1:48.129. After Run are 653PS, 845PP
F10: 1:49.984. After Run are 652PS, 845PP
FGT: 1:48.680. After Run are 650PS, 845PP

F2007 and FGT are quite easy to done the time which listed
However, F10 time are quite difficult to achieve.

But something interesting, is leaving FGT, just only Ferrari Run and 5 more PP up.

There are different story.

F07: 1:47.472. After Run are 653PS, 851PP
F10: 1:47.713. After Run are 652PS, 851PP

By the way... I think their are Down Force issue, but I will continue the test next time to verity them in more details.

Anyway I will upload the Best lap save data on there for reference.

F10 obviously has less df in the rear because of the smaller rear wing (darn regulations)

I know that. But 5 more PP in same Power and Weight. F10 could head to head with F2007 caring fewer Grip issue.

I usually keep my f10 at 127/150 downforce. I can usually keep up with my friend in an f2007 with much more assists then I.

Be interesting if you undertook a full study to find out the differenece between the two taking into account straight line speed, cornering, deceleration and other things.

Great findings though

I just checked F2007 and FGT, The Driving Signature almost are same, anyway F10 I didn't checked.

Also... FGT is impossible to achieve 850 PP in Fixed Weight and Power.

In this stage, I could roughly say: If the PP is limit, try meet the PP by Down Force MORE, NOT Power or Weight. This could more competitive.

I like this kind of info. If only you could get a room of folks to abide by it; you could have a whale of an open wheel race.

Funny thing is if you de-tune them, they become Indy Cars.

Me and my group do that quite a bit. It's also nice to lower the hp of the fgt to around 500 to compensate for it's bad aerodynamics.

its not just the narrow and higher rear wing but the whole rear is regulated so nothing else can be put to add downforce. On the 2009-2013 regulations , only the rear wing and difuser makes downforce. In 2010 there was fin but it did not add downforce but made the car tiny bit less turbulent but it affected the car very little and this year only half fin is allowed. Just this year there's a new blown difuser which blows exhaust gas to feed the difuser hot air to produce more out of the difuser which is more downforce but next year it will be banned , they are trying to make the cars harder to drive and at the same time faster than the predecessors. The reason why they are choosing smaller engines is because its more efficient and can further be improved , as long as it stays powerful. V6 turbo for 2014 but its good because it produces about the same power as the v8 and KERS will be twice as powerful , the engine will be much more efficient meaning they can either make the engine more powerful or they can make the race distance longer.

Right now I do not like the F10 in cote d'azur and in suzuka it became arcade darn lazy and unresponsive - the opposite of what a single seater is , please bring back 1.12!

I'm curious though. What ARE the FGT's based on? F1? If so, which year? or Indy cars? or just something else? I've always wondered...

surely 1980s to 1990 f1 car or indy car because it has a v12 and has insufficient power to downforce ratio.

I think i´ve read somewhere the FGT was a no regulation concept of a F1 car in the late 90s.
Something like the Red Bull is in GT5.

It was kind of a mash between F1 cars of 2004 (the power figure) and 1997 (wide track and slicks) with bits of IndyCar in between as well.

I prefer the F2007 and F10. The FGT I think doesn't handle so well compared to the two Ferraris.

Personally I think the FGT is just an update of the Polyphony 001 from gt3 which was just a generic late 90s F1 car. The Polyphony 002 was based on an Indy car of the time, was turbo and drove quite differently. Wish they'd update it too.

I prefer the ferraris and I'm surprised you can't race against anything else or even mix F10 and 07.

The FGT is almost identical to the 2004 Renault R24, just with a different nose and wings.

Not identical , the 1996 f1 renault car is identical but the performance is probably like 1990.

What are you talking about? The FGT is far far faster than any 1990 F1 car and it looks like (and has the power figure of) a 2004 F1 car. It hardly has anything in common with anything from the 90s.

This would break the copyright laws surrounding F1.

looks are identical the nose is identical and you can't compare that to any f1 car of 2004 and the rear doesn't look like anything 2004 , and it is a v10 Williams FW18 but the fgt has a v12 which means early 1990.

If you read the description GT5 gives of the FGT in your garage they say they wanted to make a formula car with no restriction on hp and aero, which means that if driven correctly, the FGT is faster than a Ferrari F1.

its faster on monza but it wont be faster on any other f1 track :( not even close. The v10 F1 cars up to 2005 are slower than the now f1 cars on all f1 tracks too , except for monza.

Exactly, Ferrari Formula huge advantage are down force allowed increase to 100 over. but FGT didn't

Also... I did think Ferrari Formula in GT5 are already leave from FIA regulation.

It's odd but I remember my fgt in gt4 having a 3 liter v10, but I'm not real sure on that. It drove much better too, considering the different physics.

Right now the f10 has arcade regulation but hopefully they will bring back real f10's regulation which is the right direction like fia's and the f10 online at 1.12 if i remembered, basically the hardest its ever been and most importantly the most realistic itsever been.

The poor grammar and spelling made my head hurt and I really struggled to skim through the topic post, but it sort of sounds like you're trying to make the Formula GT, Ferrari F2007, and Ferrari F10 equal and then see how they're different... which is useless. That's almost like taking a Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro, taking off the wheels and setting them atop cinder blocks, and then seeing which one performs better around a track (while both are still without wheels on blocks). The differences in these cars are the differences in these cars. If you try to eliminate those differences, it then makes little sense trying to compare differences. If you take cars with different power, different downforce, and different weight and then try making them all roughly the same, there's no point in comparing differences.

Sorry, I'm not a talent of every language.

I known which is useless
They never raced in same series. Also suspension, engine, aerodynamic & etc. are different...

Now you understand what's wrong with PP system?
That isn't a good measure for car performance.

The Formula Gran Turismo gets faster lap times around a track than an F2007. Are you happy about that answer? It gives no comparison between the two cars which makes for a boring and useless discussion, which will therefore kills this thread. If you don't want to have discussions where people give their input and you just want straight forward answers that don't go in depth as discussions try Yahoo Answers. I don't see a problem with comparing the cars different attributes.
