Welcome to my FIA GT 2005 season thread where i will be updating you all with progress of my season (i actually will this time, i promise:D) using some new ideas to get my progress across to you. So sit back and enjoy the read, expect the first race to be ready to read tomorrow afternoon.

Have you d/led the FIA GT 2005 mod yet?

Butlers 911 GT3 RSR had a poor day today in the 2 qualifying sessions at Monza for round 1 of this years FIA GT championship. His first session this morning was going well as his pace gradually got quicker through the first 15 minutes, but, as he went out to do another flying lap he lost control of the car into Lesmo 1 and had a heavy impact with the armco barrier ending his session early. He was late out in session 2, his first run coming after half the session had been completed, but it was a good first run clocking in a mid 1'55 taking him up 5 places to 35th. He had a close encounter on his 3rd flying run of the afternoon when another 911 GT3 and a Maserati Mc12 came blaring past him into the second chicane almost taking him out. Eventually he powered home with a solid 1'53.8 to take 32nd overall and 15th place in the GT2 class for the race tomorrow. There are 40 runners and on the front row for the start are the 2 new Aston martin DBR9s.

Race report tomorrow:D

Good luck with the race Ash! Bring home the points!

Disappointing race for young Brit
Ashley Butlers race weekend at Monza didn't get any better in yesterdays race, the 17 year old racer from England suffered mechanical problems on the formation lap and it looked as though his race was over before it had started. However the problem appeared to sort itself out and the team gave the thumbs up to start. It was going well for him, moving up 4 places from the start into 11th in GT2 (28th overall) and was chasing the Vonka racing Porsche hard, behind him, one of the Orange Porsches put him under pressure for the first few laps, but on lap 3, Butler seemed to go too hot into Retiflo Tribune and he spun on the exit, quick thinking however saved him and he only lost 2 places, 1 of which he got back in the next turn. He had a couple of close calls, particularly on the exit of variente ascari where all 4 wheels were on the gravel but he didn't lose any places. He was settled in 29th place (12th in class) until the last lap, where, for the second time in the race he got too hot into retiflo tribune and spun it, only this time onto the grass and he lost a lot of places, he dropped back to what was effectivley last, 36th, 3 cars had retired and 37th was a G2 car so not his class. He crossed the line in 36th overall and 19th in his class.
He said this at the end of the race: "I just have to look forwards to Magny-Cours, Monza is a hard opening circuit and i just have to hope for a beter performance from me and the car in France".

Why didn't he just go to NASCAR? :dunce:

Post qualifying interview with Ashley Butler.

Autosport: A hard days running for you today, are you disappointed with the result?

Ashley: Yes, very disappointed, but i beleive its through no fault of my own.

AS: Whos fault is it?

AB: Simply the weather, yesterday was hot and sunny and i got into a good groove but today, completely the opposite, torrential downpours ruined all my runs, couldn't keep the car straight.

AS: Your going from the back of the grid, how are you looking to approach the race?

AB: I'm just gonna drive my own race, its forecast to be dry and sunny so hopefully my dry groove is stilll there and i can put in some good laps and hopefully move up the field.

AS: Realistically where are you aiming to come?

AB: i would like to get into the top 30 overall, thats moving up 6 places, which is realistic to me, but we will have to see what happens at the start.

AS: Thank you and good luck.

Thanks TVR_FF, tomorow will be the Silverstone race report. For now a quick update from my 2nd qualifying session, with 15 minutes to go i am 3rd in my class:D Good strong foothold for the start.

Good race for the Brits at Silverstone!
The 3rd round of the FIA GT season was raced today at the Silverstone circuit in Northampton, UK, and it was a very dramatic race for the brits. Butler, starting from 32nd out of 35 after a poor qualifying session would be the big mover however. On lap 1, he battled with 2 ferrari after a good start which saw him move up to 28th, battling for 27th and 26th with the 2 360s. Eventually he prevailed, nailing both in succesive turns taking 14th in his class and 26th overall. Ahead of him, some drivers had technical problems forcing them out, moving him up to 13th in class and 24th overall. On lap 5, he made his biggest moves, taking 2 places on the lap up to eleventh place, including a spectacular move on the outside of becketts. Then towards the end of the lap, the 10th place Ferrari spun wildly out of control allowing Butler to take that position, sitting 10th in class and 21st overall. 2 more drivers in his class made errors moving him up to 7th and then he slipstreamed a 360 into Stowe up the inside, then, on the last corner on the final lap he made a very brave and amazing overtaking manouvre on the inside of luffield to snatch 5th place from on of the 360s and so capping off a good race for the 17 year old Porsche driver.
Butler chases 11th.

10th place takes a spin (left hand side).

Butler moves into 5th in Luffield.

Next race one of my personal faves ,Imola:D

Sounds like a good victory.

Don't threat about Monza. It really is a challenging race in the game given many of the 360s seem to prevail there, as well as the Maranellos and S7Rs always coming up from behind.
