Overview: Just like the real FIA GT3 Championship, the GT Planet version is to promote fun, fast, diversified racing using the world's premier cars tuned to maximize racing performance and keep the image of the street going car in mind. MPR will be the sanctioning body. MPR, m.piedgros Racing, a.k.a Me, will oversee round results and put together all tally on points etc. All questions about the series should be directed to MPR in this thread, or if it is related to a specific round, in the round thread. There are nine (9) different cars on the grid. They are, in no particular order, Porsche 997 GT3 Cup, Lamborghini Gallardo GT3, Venturi Heritage, Maserati Gransport Light, Aston Martin DBRS9, Chevrolet Corvette Z06R, Dodge Viper Competition Coupe, Ascari KZ1R, and Ferrari's F430 GT3 Challenge. To get these cars into GT4, cars similar in styling, and performance were chosen to represent each and were subsequently tuned to match each other in performance and come close as possible to SRO performance standards. That of course brings us to, what is in my opinion, the most important part of the series, the cars!

Entrants will build their cars exactly the way outlined above under the name of car. If approved, cars can be bought new and built new at certain points during the season. This may only occur once per driver. If you are looking to rebuild your car you must first file a request (PM) MPR (me). If performance issues arise for a particular car or driver, MPR will most likely already be on the case, though feel free to PM m.piedgros with any issues regarding performance.

SPORTING REGULATIONS

* free practice sessions are available to all drivers. Use time wisely, practice each circuit as much as possible to find the fast line and right set-up.

* each entrant will PM m.piedgros with his/her two (2) best qualifying laps. The first qualifying time sets the grid for the first race. The second qualifying time sets the grid for the second race. The top three qualifiers will receive points in this order 1st. 3 2nd. 2 3rd. 1, FOR EACH SESSION, meaning; you could earn six (6) points if you achieve pole in each session. The two (2) qualifying laps must be distinct times (baisically, the top two (2) times you achieve.) When submitting your qualifying times, make sure to include Driver Name, Car, #, Team, ALL T times, and Total time.

* each round will consist of two (2) qualifying sessions, and two (2) races. The races will be ten (10) laps in length with two (2) exceptions, the two (2) All-Star events, to be outlined below.

* .100 will be added to first lap times and total race time, by me, to simulate grid accuracy. Submit your race time "as usual" and I will do the work from there.

* Drivers will qualify on (R5) Racing Super Soft tires and must race on (R2) Racing Hard tires.

POINTS and TITLES

There are three separate classifications :

* FIA GT3 Championship for Drivers (scale : 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1)

* FIA GT3 Championship for Teams (scale : 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 - all cars score for their respective team)

* FIA GT3 Manufacturers Cup (scale : 10-6-4-3-2-1)

* FIA GT3 Championship of Nations (Championship totals will be based on total points aquired by the drivers from each country.)

Points will be scored in the same fashion all the way through. The top eight (8) finishers will receive drivers title points, the top eight (8) finishers will receive team title points, and the top six (6) finishers will recieve manufacturers points. (Just in case that wasn't clear!)

TEAMS and DRIVERS

* drivers are not required to be a part of a multi-car team.

* drivers are however responsible for a team name, they will still be scored on the team title scale.

* the highest placing one (1) car team on the team championship scale, will be credited with the "Privateers Championship" title.

* a maximum of four (4) drivers per team is allowed. There should be no need for exception. If extraordinary measures arise, the rule will be debatable.

All accidents must be reported (include accident info, severity etc. in submission.) Please try each race only once, if you are involved in a racing incident, move on, real racers have to! EDIT: I myself will be a late addition to the series. When the field is made up, I will choose the car with the fewest drivers. At that point, I will make myself available for joining a team.

drunkster and wasace96, welcome aboard!

@ east: This is a game based on FIA GT3 (grand touring 3 class.) It is to be played in GT4 (Gran Turismo 4) only. Hope that clears it up.

@ wasace96: "real cup" settings would put you at a performance disadvantage, I believe. Though I will go due some testing with those and give you an answer ASAP.

@ wasace96: The tire rule will stay as is, and should do so, unless performance issues arise.

Sounds like a good series 👍

Why not add an Elise/Motorsport Elise? - Lotus are testing an Exige to run in the series.

How about the Jag XK8 for the Masarati Gransport - it looks similar and is closer in concept?

@ TheCracker: I tested the Motorsport Elise to replace the Exige, unfotunately I couldn't bring it to within the one second barrier the other cars were in. It was approximately 4.5 seconds back. As for the XKR, I suppose I could do some testing on that, thanks for the tip!

Lotus are having the same problem themselves! - thats why its not been seen out yet, at 280bhp they are well down on the others :(

👍 No problem . I'd join the series myself but i've found i just don't have the time to 'OLR' to any decent standard.

SPORTING REGULATIONS NOTE:

* It is quite possible a new rule, similar to that in the real FIA GT3 championship could be put in place within the next 24 hours. Depending on the make up of the grid a maximum number of cars per manufacturer could be put in place (4-6, undecided). As it stands now the rule is not official because it could be a little to early to say that this will be a Porsche or Ferrari dominated field. However, actions need to be taken before it gets out of hand. The purpose of the real GT3 is to make diversified grids (i.e. not 30 Porsches and 1 of every other car) and they have that rule in place. I will mull it over with my unofficial co-stewards (some friends from school) and an announcement will be made; as stated earlier; within the next twenty-four (24) hours.

m.piedgros

OK hehe sorry for the stupid question :D

East - 23 - Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 / Pagani Zonda C12

SPORTING REGULATIONS UPDATE:

Okay, so it took 25 odd hours, gimmie a break. Haha, on to the business though. There will be a car entry limit. The maximum number of cars per type (i.e. Porsche 997 GT3 Cup) will be limited to four (4). I will get to work on testing the "true cup" settings for you wascace96 and start developing the Shaguar XKR TheCracker, see if we can't squeeze that in.

Pre-Season News/Notes:

The track is GREEN at Monaco (I know, it's Friday but the principality made an exception for a series this cool!) So build your ride and start those flying laps.

m.piedgros

wasace96,

Sorry, I tested out your cup settings, thanks for posting, but you're gonna have to run mine.

m.piedgros

TheCracker,

Sorry, the Shaguar couldn't make the grid. In a surprisingly low tune it was much, MUCH faster than the grid (and I believe was the heaviest thing out there!) This could be an issue of drivers bias but there were no changes that would be SRO or FIA approved that I could make to get 'er down to spec.

m.piedgros

Looks like alot of fun (not sure if I'll run the enduros, though)

Filizola
#43
Aston Martin DBRS9 / Aston Martin DB9 (me gusto el Martin)

NOTE:to all Porsche and wanna be Porsche drivers
the ruf r-gt fia gt3 race car is very twitchy under brakes and braking over bumps it will spear you off the track

Filizola Welcome to GT3!

@wasace -- I haven't experienced the same problem with the Porsche (Ruf.) I don't mean to offend, but have you tried fiddling around with the suspension set-up?

m.piedgros

Technical Note: The Porsche 997 GT3 Cup will run on a Super-Soft (R5) front; Soft (R4) Rear tire.

Technical Note: The Chevrolet Corvette Z06R will run on R5 Super-Soft racing tires at round one, and on, untill you hear otherwise.
