FIA Puts Brake on Blocking Penalties

Discuss: 3-4 pages double-spaced, due at the beginning of class on Wednesday, September 20. Cite all sources.

Here's the FIA arguing with itself again... It's good that they're doing something about it, though. I've said all year that it's absurd that they actually listened to drivers whining about having other cars blocking (i.e. on track at the same time) during qualifying.

I dunno about this one...Whiting now has the power to decide which incidents count as "serious" and which don't. What's the point of employing a permanent steward and getting two other stewards in if you bypass them in part of the decision making process? I understand that it takes time to rule on each case, but if something gets overlooked because Whiting doesn't think it's serious enough it could cost a team places on the grid and millions of pounds in TV money and points.
