Hello

I’m thinking about entering my first FIA race soon (nations).

What is a good way to practice? I’ve been hot lapping to test cars, but time trial doesn’t have FIA track limits. So now I’m thinking I could have been wasting my time.

Is it possible to select “FIA” or something similar for time trial and/or custom races?

Also what is the actual format of FIA session? For example, 10 mins practice and 30 race?

I’ve tried searching online and can’t find this info.

Thanks
D

As far as I know, the only way to practice the actual FIA track limits is to enter the "Free Practice" in each of those races. This means that you can only practice for the upcoming FIA race. So right now you can practice for Wednesdays races, but Saturday's races won't be available until Wednesday night.

The format for the races can be found here: https://www.gran-turismo.com/us/gtsport/sportmode/schedule

Normally there's a 10-minute qualifying session, followed by the race. Most races are lap-based, but there have been a few time-based races here and there, not many. If you want to practice in a lobby, be sure to copy the tire wear and fuel settings from the schedule, as well as time of day to mimic the track/car conditions exactly. The only thing you can't simulate in a lobby is the "championship" track limits, which is unfortunate.

Good luck!

If you look at the race details for each event you can recreate the conditions in a custom race from the Arcade menu, or in an online Lobby if the fuel or tyre multiplier is above 10x. I just turn all the shortcut penalty stuff up to the most severe option.

For tracks limits, check out the best times in the leaderboard.

For practice, you can usually find lobbies with all the settings as close as possible to the FIA race.

Lobbies! I don’t look at those very often. Thanks.
