On the first lap, the first segment I lag the lead car by about 30 sec, at the second segment (about 1:00 min in) I suddenly lag by about 1:00 minutes? Promise I didn't stop for a beer:crazy:

Anyone else seen this problem? I can fight my way to second but still lag by about 10 sec at the end. Lap times are around 2:06.

Cheers

Yeah, I think it can be presumed Chuck Norris takes over half way through the lap then hands the ropes back to bob for the rest of the race. :p

What I think this is, is that some of the AI cars start ahead of the end of the first sector, and the game thinks the first car to cross it (for the sake of discussion we'll call it the 6th place car) is the leader.

When you get to the first sector, it gives you the distance to the 6th place car, as the game believes it's the leader. Since the lead AI crosses the second sector, it gives you the correct margin then, which will be several seconds larger.

I haven't done anything to test this theory, so if anyone would like to prove me either right or wrong, go right ahead :)

Thanks for the replys. Just wondered if the game was biased towards ME:dopey:

Amazing people can catch the lead car in the time given! Guess I just need to get faster.

Cheers

this seems pretty logical. 👍

The fiat is slow enough that you don't really need to brake. I think there are only 2 or 3 turns that you absolutely must brake for.The key to this event is smooth input with the wheel and scrubbing the least amount of speed as possible

What top speed did you get? My Fiat only gets to about 143 km/h

I added all the drivetrain upgrades, suspension upgrade and I think i used the low rpm turbo. Used the power limiter to get back within spec, and set my trans to a max speed of 93mph. Like I said, there are only 2 or 3 corners you need to brake for and it's really just a tap of the brake you really need. No need to mash the brake or lock em up. Smooth steering inputs and keep your speed up! You'll get it. I think it took me three attempts to gold this one.

I was also surprised by this and assumed what you say was right but...

recently I worked a lot on those events (mainly the WRX one) and I think it is similar but not exactly what happens:

-some cars start ahead of the first corner
so they don't register a time for crossing that timer
-when you get to it, watch your timer... it's the same

so I think that it just register "0.00.00" for the "first car" and gives you the difference when you cross the line
I need to verify this, but it would make sense for programing.

It's pretty straight forward what you need to do. The lead car puts up a total time of 8 minutes. Therefore to win you must average under 1:36/lap. The first lap will always be a little slower because of cold tires and the fact that the care isn't traveling very fast at the start of the race. You should be able to put up a time of around 1:36.5 for the first lap. All the other laps need to be below 1:36. You need to make up the 1/2 second and keep all the other laps under 1:36.

It is a challenge because the best lap I could ever get was in the mid high 1:34's and any kind of mistake or trouble passing other cars put me over 1:36. I finally put up five good laps. A mid 1:36 on lap one, a high 1:34 and three mid 1:35's. I passed the lead car on the turn out of the cork screw and won by 2 1/2 seconds.

You have to drive very fast and very accurate to win.

I think it's because the cars ahead don't crank up to full speed until you cross the line. Whatever it is, all the seasonals do it. It's best to ignore the first sector split, as it really isn't telling you anything useful.
