I'm going to the car show tomorrow (it's a weekly one) so I'll get a bunch of pics for yinz.

EDIT: I just realized my attraction to this car. Ever since I could walk I have wanted a Ferrari, and this is the closest thing I can afford to "The One"(a 1958 Red Head).

Remember, this is Italian.

Exactly. Very bad car, all rusty and such. :dopey:

(Hopefully, in due time, all MR2 in Europe will get exported to the US and all X1/9 in the US will return to Europe. We deserve our own very bad italian cars, shouldn't mislead the americans into buying them) :sly:

I'll tell you right now that it's NOT easy to get FIAT parts in the U.S. It's probably even harder, now, with the weak American Dollar.

Oh I'm sure eBay has them, it has everything.

and I'll bet half of 'em are imported, thus the price is up because the dollar is down. We can't win right now.

Or he could just be sane and buy an AW11/Fiero for what would probably be half as much up front and far less down the line.

@Gibson: The bottom line is, you asked for opinions. Not only is $4400 for an X1/9 pretty much a crime considering what better choices you can also get (no, the "But its Italian" excuse doesn't work for anything but old Alfa's), but it is just about the single worst choice one could make for a first car. If you had a vehicle to fall back on during the frequent times that the X1/9 breaks down, or if it was just a weekend car, I would say to talk him down a bit than go for it. But as it stands, stay away. The car will break down at the worst times possible, and you will probably not want to have to constantly having to fix something or other regardless of if you are good at or enjoy doing so.
