Anyone on GTP play? It is my favorite sport, and I have been playing for about 7 years. It is a very easy game to pick up, so if you ever see a game on TV, give it a chance đź‘Ť.

For those who do play/follow the sport, this would be a great place to discuss the fortunes of your teams, whether you are on the field and cheering from the sidelines.
 
I've played for the last 2 years. It's still growing up here because box is more popular. It sucks that we don't get it on tv though.
 
It normally comes on ESPNU, but there have been 2 or 3 ESPN games so far this season.
 
Our 4 game winning streak was snapped tonight. The other team had one dominant player at each position and it was just enough to edge us out.
 
The University of Virginia and UNC are playing on ESPN right now, check it out! Thankfully, Carolina is losing, which makes it even more fun to watch ;).
 
I'm used to college lacrosse, and I've seen a little Major League Lacrosse at times. It is a very interesting sport. I guess I am impartial to the ACC since I see so many ACC teams in lacrosse, including the usual Division 3 school that plays D1 Lacrosse- Johns Hopkins.

As of this post, both Massachusetts and Loyola College remain unbeaten.
 
Is JHU included in the ACC in lacrosse? I was unaware of that.
 
My Duke Blue Devils are playing Virginia on ESPNU right now, and Syracuse and Rutgers will be playing tomorrow morning at 11 AM ET on ESPNU, as well. Also tomorrow, Hofstra and UNC will square off, and in-state Top 10 rivals Maryland and Johns Hopkins will clash in the prime-time game. All 3 games tomorrow on ESPNU. (7)Duke just earned the #1 seed in the ACC Tournament with a 13-5 whoopin' over (1)Virginia. CJ Costabile shut down Virginia's trademark face-off attack and Dan Wigrizer had 14 saves to open the door for the easy win. Go Devils!

After the first set of games of the ACC Tournament, the final is set. (1)Duke will face off against rival (3)UNC in a rematch of Duke's win earlier this season. Those are conference rankings.

Also today, unranked Navy shocked (6)Johns Hopkins to sweeten their losing season on Senior Day. As I type, unranked Georgetown leads (14)Syracuse, who is on the NCAA Tournament bubble, 5-4 in the 3rd quarter. Happy laxing to all!
 
We should make this a college lacrosse thread, because that's the only lacrosse I follow. But yeah- I saw Navy put on that hit (to use Mafia speak) on #6 Johns Hopkins at home. That was ugly. I even said that on the JHU Lacrosse Facebook fan page- "that was ugly."
 
It was cool to watch, especially since it was for the military kids. Love it when good things like that happen to them.
 
When you're not going to anybody's playoffs and you take down a giant like Johns Hopkins, that's saying something. It's a feel-good win for Navy. Navy is usually pretty good in lacrosse. Not so much this season, I guess.
 
Yep. Duke took John Danowski's 4th ACC title yesterday with a 12-9 (I believe) win over Carolina yesterday. Duke won both games against the Tar Heels this year, as well as 15 of the last 16 in the series. More conference tourneys this weekend!
 
With two games left in our first season, we will head off to our most important game of the year tomorrow. We, with a 5-2 record (we're ineligible for the state playoffs because we aren't in an organized conference), will head to our rival's place to face off in a rematch of our 9-0 defeat at home at the hands of the Nighthawks. Afterwards, Senior Day on Tuesday against a lesser opponent whom we have already beaten.
 
We didn't win, but we didn't lose 9-0. I believe it was 8-2, but it was a lot closer than the scoreboard implies. Well, even with the loss, we can still go 6-3, which is quite a season for a first year program. Our final game will be on Tuesday.
 
We finished out the season 6-3 with a 6-2 win on Senior Day. Unfortunately, our best player will not pursue a college lacrosse career unlike another player who came through our local program (the one before the school team). Our accomplishments merited a spot on both the front page and front of the sports page of our local paper (pretty good considering its a town of over 100,000). Now time to start preparing for next year.
 
I got a new stick today, as noted in the Purchases thread.

The selection show is on now, so this weekend will be filled with great lacrosse! Duke plays Syracuse, Carolina plays Denver, defending champ UVA plays Princeton, and overall #1 seed Loyola (MD) faces Canisius in notable first round matchups.
 
Earlier this hour, unranked Maryland just overrated #2 Johns Hopkins with an 11-5 victory. They'll meet the winner of Duke/Colgate in the NCAA Semifinals. It was a damned shame if you're a fan of the JHU Blue Jays.
 
Good to see someone else is keeping up with the action John! Just got done officiating the final tournament of the season today, so now I have to wait until the fall to start practicing again :(. At least Coach informed us we may be playing a tournament in October.

Duke-Colgate tomorrow after the conclusion of UVA-Notre Dame in Philadelphia. The winner of the Duke game will face Maryland, and the winner of the first game will face Loyola. Championship Weekend will be at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA with the semis this Saturday and the championship game on Memorial Day. Go Blue Devils!
 
Well, we lost. That's a way to put it lightly. Remember the Duke lacrosse rape case? As I love to tell people, they were 100% innocent, but all I could think of as I watched Maryland run them into the ground like a pee wee team was that the tables had turned on them. I chuckled a little. Well, good luck to both the Greyhounds of Loyola and UMD on Championship Monday.
 
Congratulations to the NCAA Divison 1 champions:

MEN: #1 Loyola College smashed Maryland 9-3 for their first title in school history.
WOMEN: Northwestern beat Syracuse 8-6 (I believe) for yet another women's lacrosse title.


Congrats to both schools as well as all other college lacrosse champs in other divisions (not just NCAA).


[UPDATE] I want to send a shout-out to the University of Florida while I'm at it. Why so? I am one of many people who didn't know that the Florida Gators have lacrosse programs. Their women's team advanced pretty far in this year's tournament. The University of Florida started their lacrosse about 2010 or so. Perhaps college lacrosse is on the rise. Maybe a lot more schools may take part in lacrosse, especially maybe more Mountain and Pacific time zone teams. And imagine existing rivalries carry into lacrosse (like imagine USCal vs. UCLA in lacrosse).

All congrats to the Florida Gators in this shout-out.

Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in America by miles, especially here in the Southeast. Just look at Crooked Arrows, the new feature film releasing June 1st centered around a Native American lacrosse team restoring the sport to their reservation. Even in my predominantly baseball-crazed town (the opposing spring sport), there are many baseball-first households purchasing lacrosse equipment. Each of the last 3 years, our local youth league has needed increasingly large facilities to host our annual tournament. Also, my school was the first in the region to sanction a team, with many more following soon. I can't wait to see where we are by the time I finish playing, let alone start coaching :).

In regards to the game, Loyola's play was just as pretty as their shiny carbon fiber helmets. Eric Lusby, the Greyhound's hot hand to complement Tewaaraton (lacrosse Heisman) finalist Mike Sawyer, scored 4 goals and secured the record for most goals scored in a single tournament with 17. Unfortunately, he beat out one of my boyhood idols, Duke's Zack Greer, who had 16. Fun fact, Loyola coach/alum Charley Toomey played in the only other Championship Game appearance for the Greyhounds 22 years ago, which they lost. All that's left is the announcement of the Tewaaraton Trophy winner, which will most likely be Mike Sawyer.

Now only a few short months until fall workouts :).
 
ESPN2 is showing Major League Lacrosse. It is the Charlotte Hounds at the Boston Cannons. Boston leads 7-6 with about 4:45 left in the 2nd Quarter.
 
Do you guys get any NLL on there? I'm more of a box lacrosse guy.
 
Not sure. MLL and NLL lacrosse don't come on very often on TV. The games are usually televised on CBS Sports Network here. SOMETIMES the ESPN networks too.
 
The new season of college lacrosse for 2014 is upcoming. According to the Inside Lacrosse rankings from January 27, 2014; defending Champs, Duke is atop the rankings with 15 first-place votes. Filling out the rest of the Top 5 are Syracuse (4 first-place votes), North Carolina, Denver, and Notre Dame.

I also read that the Big Ten will join the lacrosse ranks and will add Johns Hopkins in 2015. JHU is currently an ACC school in lacrosse. The JHU Blue Jays are a solid program. For the Big Ten to pick up the Baltimore school will be huge.


It will pretty much be time to head back onto the field and play lacrosse again as more of the Spring sports get will be underway.
 
At present, there is the World Lacrosse Championships going on with some 38 countries getting involved. Last night saw the United States beat Canada 10-7 even as the game got to be a bit chippy late. Perhaps most interesting is all the different nations taking part in this World Championship of lacrosse. Among others (and besides USA and Canada): Australia, Slovakia, England, Scotland, Costa Rica, and Japan. Great to see how this sport has evolved and what nations have taken up on it.
