Since 1975, the Six races with some of the finest motorcycle road racers ride their two-wheeled rockets to endure intense punishment. Races last anywhere between eight hours or 24 straight hours. Everything you love about big time sportscar racing is exactly what makes this motorcycle series great. In fact, think of FIM World Endurance as the motorcycle equivalent of the Le Mans Series. This is where you'll see pit stops, lights on the bikes, rider changes, and more.
There are three classes competing in this series. Here they are:
* Formula EWC (Endurance World Championship)
The Formula EWC bikes are mostly vastly-tuned superbikes. An example team in this class is a very good team- Yamaha Austria Racing Team (YART).
* Superstock
Examples of Superstock class teams are QERT (Qatar Endurance Racing Team) Suzuki and Hottrax Yamaha.
* Open
I think this series consists of prototype race bikes. Can't name you any teams, though, and I don't think they can qualify for any points. Bikes that race in this class are heavily modified. Not sure to what extent, though.
The 2010 championship consists of five races compared to the six races from last year. Here is the schedule for this season:
* Apr. 4, 2010 - 24 Hours of Le Mans Moto (Bugatti Circuit - FRA)
* May 22, 2010 - 8 Hours of Albacete (Albacete - SPA)
* Jul. 25, 2010 - 8 Hours of Suzuka (Suzuka Circuit - JPN) <<< will ONLY be raced by Formula EWC
* Sep. 12, 2010 - 24 Hours Bol d'Or (Magny Cours - FRA)
* Nov. 13, 2010 - 8 Hours of Doha (Losail - QAT)
