Has anyone picked up the release of the original final fantasy? it looks good and ign only scored it low because that it's on old game, but, im curious what others think first.

ive been a fan of the series since 7 and have played VII, VIII, IX, X, and XII as well as III and IV on the DS. i really dont want to go back to stand-inline-and-take-turns-attacking-other style, but, if the storyline is good i can deal with it. plus level grinding is a lot more bearable on hand held systems for some reason.

i'd like to see where the series started as well, but, is it worth the price of a new game?
 
I bought the psp remakes of FFI and FFII a while ago and found them to be quite good. The gameplay of FFI is pretty much the same as the original. It's definitely not as hard though. I really loved the updated graphics and music but I guess if you've never played the original you might not appreciate it as much as me lol. The story isn't as grand or epic as the later titles but for how old the game is I found it to be decent and enjoyable. To me, the only real downside to the game is that you have way to many random battle encounters. Sure you level faster but it can become annoying when sometimes you finish a fight, go two feet and them boom, another fight. It's a solid RPG (albeit a bit dated) and only $20 on amazon.com so I say give it a try, you might enjoy it as much as I did.

Thanks to the wonders of the PSN store, you can now buy the classic PSone Final Fantasy's 7,8 and 9 and download them to you PSP! They are only £8 each. You will need a large capacity memory card though - each game takes up around 1.5 - 2GB space. But hell it's worth it - any FF fan will agree.
I just got FF7 and have it stored on my PS3. Getting giddy knowing the great time I have ahead of me - again. Plan to get a new MCard for my PSP and download it. Then FF8 and 9. Oh the old ones were the best!
