Finally got gold on Eiger, Grand Tour

after approx 700 attempts, give or take 200, I have acheved a time of 1:16:74.

I could have saved myself the agony of countless restarts, had I bothered to finally map the RA menu to the controller.

It's all about the brake balance. ABS at 1 (start ABS at 0 to load game), everthing else off, MT.

I anxiously await DLC news & bonus race goodies, as soon as PSN is back online.
 
Congratulations. I'm still at bronze and would need any luck to gold it. One of the toughest in the game.

What were your brake settings? And did you have to reset them every single race?
 
Golded it with 10/10 ABS 1 a while ago.
Took me about 500km alone on that challenge which is roughly 800 attempts which is 7 hours.

you will "feel" the car suddenly wants to win each attempt.
 
Yeah, this challenge was annoying. It took lots of practice until the times started going down. I still don't know how I golded it. The Suzuka Vettel was easier imo.
As I watched other videos of the test, I saw people getting into 4th gear in places that I could only get into 3rd.{ie,the jump hill} Then there were spots where people would b in 2nd gear where I could only get revs in 1st gear. {ie turn 4} Make sure ur goin @ least 86-87 mph around the fast right hander near the end. I had manual tranny obviously w/no aids on except abs@ 10

yes, the vettel challange is the only thing i can't win, in my opinion it has nothing to do whit sim racing.

Ye I find it rather easy, no idea why, i just used the default setup you get given :S. Its about patient driving.

Congratulations non the less.

Sorry to be ignorant, but where exactly can you set the brake balance on the Grand Tour challenge? The only option I can see is for driver aids (TC, ABS, etc), nothing about car setup.

I simply cannot get this track. Most of the others I am fine with (except the first expert rally event).
 
Today was a good day. Finished all of my remaining special event golds.

Eiger gold FINALLY after having watched the beasts making 1.14.5xx times here on GTP. Clocked in at 1.16.984 :D !!

AMG intermediate full lap. Was surprisingly easy with the godlike handling compared to the alfa. First clean lap 7.05.357 (seriously?.. grr..) Next try, 7.02.xxx, awesome.
 
@kattjeveln that tuned SLS is one of the best if not the best car in the game IMO 👍

p/s:we have same exp,mine was 7:05.025 :ouch:
 
I was scared of this challenge so today I finally tried it. Golded it in my 4th attempt!:D 1:16,608 Thanks for the settings. I used TC - 5, Brake balance 3-8, Abs - 1 and the rest off.

I found it relatively easy too, although it did takes several attempts to gold it, I guess it's cos I knew the track well from Prologue.

Where the hell do you adjust brake balance for this challenge?! If that's some Europe/Japan only stuff, I'm gonna be royally pissed...

Map your buttons so you can acces while racing the R-A Adjustments menu. It's a menu where you can adjust several parameters of the car while on the go, like a real racing driver. There you can adjust TCS (From 1 to 10), ASM (From Off to On), ABS (From 1 to 10), 4WD Torque Distribution (From 50-50, to 0-100 I believe, depends on car. Only available on 4WD cars), Front Brake Bias (From 1 to 10) and Rear Brake Bias (From 1-10).

It's a really neat feature 👍.
