Finally played PC2PS4

I just downloaded PC2 last week on my PS5 and I finally got a chance to play it. I did a quick race with the Aston Martin. It was on Long Beach and it was horrible. I didn't brake soon enough and crashed on Turn 1. So I quit and waited until it finished downloading and tried again and this time I made it to turn 2. Started over again but this time I used the Escort 1600 a little bit better but still not braking right. I switched to the track to Laguna Seca as I am a little bit more familiar with that track. Better performance I still had some issues but it was mostly me adjusting the control setup. I had heard the it was tough to play with a controller but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I do think I will have to make some adjustments but I like it so far.

Yeah its definitely not a pick up and play game on the controller. Lots of info on internet about controller settings, etc. I would start there.
 
It's definitely not a mash the throttle/brake sort of approach with a controller (then again it isn't with a wheel either) especially with some default car setups, saying that thought it's nothing a little engine braking or lsd adjustment can't sort out & from personal experience turn off all aids aswell as I find they just interfere with what you want the vehicle to do, except in the rain then you may want to turn them on again :)
 
I think I am going to to try to find some good controller settings. Because I won't be getting a wheel for awhile. Maybe around Christmas.
 
I googled pc2 controller settings and surprise, surprise one of the top hits that came up besides the YouTube videos was one of the threads in this forum. So I think I used a combination of settings and started doing some testing doing some hot laps. I think they work well but I realized my biggest issue is braking sooner and starting my turns sooner as well. I tested the Escort 1600 then I used the Corvette because I wanted to see if the settings would hold up on a more powerful car and they did for the most part. With the Escort I can come out of the turn and mash the gas and not spin out but with the Vette the back end wants to become the front end so I need to ease up on the gas.I think I will try out some more cars on Laguna Seca.
I do have to say I love the fact that the Escort and Vette drive totally different. I shouldn't feel like they're the same car but with a different body. As much as I am enjoying this with the controller I know that to get the full enjoyment I need to get a wheel.
 
Even cars you'd think should be pretty close to drive have there own nuances to them. That and the sense of inertia and momentum, a wheel will help with that but it's still there, even with the controller.

He's a controller user and has basically mastered it. I would use his name in any searches you do about controller settings.

I'm still astonished by you guys who are good on a controller.

However I wouldn't use the phrase mastered, I just don't seem to have the same problem as 95% of other controller users.

The direct feel of the controller is exactly how I like it, no damping, no sensitivity curvature, just direct 1:1 input from my thumb & fingers :)
 
I want to say I used his thread to get my controller settings. I think I used his and another post in the thread as well. Hopefully this weekend I will get a chance to mess around in PC2
 
I was playing some last night and I finally got around to changing the buttons. So I set the x for the gas and square for the brake and it works so much better for me. For some odd reason I can't use the trigger buttons for gas and brakes
 
I am starting to get a little better. I think for the time being I might need to put the racing line on the tracks I don't know. Good game so far

With PC2 having such a lot of tracks to learn the driving line is a good aid to use until you've got used to them. Think of it as sat-nav. Just like sat-nav though it's best not to blindly rely on it all the time. :)

I agree I generally use them to remind me mainly to slow down. I love to try to take turns to fast :lol:

I've picked up PC2 recently and play with a Controller as well.
Here's the settings I use:

Steering sensitivity: 55
Throttle deadzone: 0
Throttle sensitivity: 20
Brake deadzone: 0
Brake sensitivity: 20
Clutch deadzone: 10
Clutch sensitivity: 25
Speed sensitivity: 95
Controller damping: 75
Controller vibration: 80

I did have the steering deadzone on this list but if I recall it is zero.

One thing I miss in PC2 is the ability to mod the cars with painting, wheels, and body parts. Would love to see them add that into the game.

As in car customisation? There is none. Most cars have about 20 liveries. Some real life period correct liveries mixed with Slightly Mad made up liveries. Very well done though. I made replicas(with a little bit of artistic licensing) of the Group A E30 M3 liveries in GT7. I also made all the replicas of the 300 SEL in GT Sport.

Game play is in-depth though. From Practicing alone to a career path. You can start with karts through to LMPs or open wheel racers. Or focus on touring cars to GT racing. Lots to choose from.

You know till today i have only changed the controller settings in my game once.
 
I don't know what the difference is between consoles but I play on an xbox one s. I don't know if the values translate between consoles.

The controller values do translate as I moved from the 1X to the SX & kept my setup the same, however it's the cpu capability handling the physics that may make your inputs feel different.

It was noted that the OG XB1, XB1S (not sure about the PS4) had trouble handling all the calculations with a full grid of 32 cars & weather conditions & other things that possibly made the controller inputs feel wonky due to the weak cpu.

Unfortunately to appreciate PC2 with no such quirks you needed a 1X/PS4 PRO minimum & now we have the SS, SX & the PS5 with better cpu's it runs perfectly.
