Finally won the Nürburgring Nordschleife race !!

Well - I finally won the Nürburgring Nordschleife race. YES!!!!!! Don't even want to count how many tries it took - but man - was that satisfying :)

Lat night, I logged in and out a couple of times until I was in the race with the 2 Ford GT's in front. I was running the Peugot 908 TDI Lemans racer - full down force, soft slicks. I love that big, torquey, growling diesel engine. After a couple of false starts, I put it together for one good run. I passed the red Ford GT before the carousel and caught and passed the white Ford GT just before the mini carousel. Then it was just a matter of keeping it cool until the finish. Even so, the Ford was right behind me at the finish because I slowed down too much in the final corners - being over cautious. But a win is a win !!

It was a fairly clean race too. I don't like hitting the other cars but there were a couple of nudges as I caught some coming into corners. And that damn green Jag race car - he's all over the place. I did punt him a bit harder a couple of times trying to pass him. He finally got the idea :-)

Fortunately my wife was working an evening shift last night - she would have been embarrassed to hear me whooping and shouting in the living room. Yep - the Canucks may have lost their hockey game - but I WON THE NORDSCHLEIFE.

Nice going, good car choice too, perhaps try a 4WD next time? Might be easier? What was your time? Also, re-entering the event will sometimes give a more balanced distribution of cars instead of 1-2 who are always 10 seconds ahead of the 2nd pack.

Ya i find that helps. Re entering an event sometimes eliminates the biggest competion you can face.
 
Of course, now the challenge is to enter the race specifically to take on the big guns. That should keep me from getting too cocky :-)

@byegad - that WILL be my next challenge. Prove to myself it wasn't a fluke. And if I can do it twice with the same mix of cars, then I'll try it with a faster group. Should be fun !!
 
That's a good plan and a good idea. i'm going to try that out. it sounds fun to try it. i know that i have faster cars that the Calsonic GT-R that i used. i might use the Ford that kept beating me.
