I've got a couple of finals this week for university, just wondering how most people here handle their exam stress.

I take at least an hours break and just listen to some Coltrane and then I'm back to the books. I also cut off all video games till exam time is over but i think i might sneak in a little GT5 demo.

That's not that bad of a method.

What I do is I study for about an hour , go blow off some steam for 15 minutes (forums, games*, music which to some people helps them study, or TV although that might get you sucked in a bit more than music or forums.), and then repeat until dinner.

*Games also might keep you playing for more than 15 minutes so it depends on your self-discipline and ability to focus on your schedule.

When I read the first post, I was under the impression that you needed a study plan or something.

...probably just late at night. My mind's been worked all day.

I should have been studying all day today. Spent most of the afternoon on GTP and only started studying on and off at 7pm. Hopefully I'll be straight though.

I actually get most of my study done at work, at least the math and writing stuff, probably not the best place but I get paid to do it and I'm not bad in my tests so its working to a degree.

But yeah when I need to get the serious stuff done I unplug the computer TV PS3 everything, turn on the MP3 player and get crakin'

Yeah, it's ridiculous. I seriously can't study in my house... SO many distractions.

I can't concentrate while studying eather.
But if i lay down on the carpet in the middle of my room and realy concentrate it's not that bad. I usualy take about 10 minute brakes whenever I feel like it.
Sure enough i got an A- yesterday and an A today.
Seems like it works.
Also there are times when i go completely nuts after some time studying. I just start doing anything other than studying. I once even tryed to do cartwheels
But when that happens all I need is to take a longer break and forget about studying untill i feel normal.

But i find changing some words realy helps.
Like I had to remember a river named Tilmont.
Ok I coul'd do that by repeating in my head a million times, but i decided I will change it to Tallmint.
It worked, since i find a mint a lot more interesting than a damn river. So whenever I need to remember the river i remember Tallmint.

for my classes i dont need to study that much, but usually a day or 2 before the final i just spend like an hour or 2 reviewing the stuff i had trouble with on quizzes/tests Ive never really studied for tests in the past but i do now. i just don't study 2 weeks in advance or anything

I've studied at work all week for my finals, and despite having two later today...I feel prepared enough that I can spend my morning washing my car, smoking pot, and playing forza...nice! :)

Usually the night before the test I'll be study for about 3 hours (or until I feel I've gotten most of the information down), go have a smoke, then come back and study the rest.

I also usually wake up early and study some more just to make sure none of the information slipped out over night.

I may have the most unorthodox method of all. I study in front of a computer, while listening to music, while browsing forums, while msning. Music is the most effective on me. I seem to be able to concentrate with it on. The msning allows me to blow/vent to my friends from time to time and the internet just allows me to get away from it all. No breaks for me though.

Well I think I failed my last chapter test today. Everything I studied and everything we were shown how to do was not on the test. It was **** out of left field.

There goes my GPA... seriously thinking about quitting, or at least there goes any self-esteem I had left.

If I don't do well on the final I'm finished.

The same thing happened to be on one of my first mid terms this year, i thought it was all going to be things related to my first year accounting and then some of the chapters we covered in the first three weeks. It turns out it was just one big case study with a few MC and short answers. The MC and short answers weren't too far from what we learned, but the case study was a huge step up from what we were taught in class.

Pretty much a good chunk of my grade gone down the drain, so i just buckled up studied harder for my second midterm and i got around a B so it kinda balances it out the horrible mark i got on my first mid term.

Don't give up just yet, study hard for your final and I'm sure you'll bring your mark up and your gpa will be fine.

I have only 2 for some reason. Being a freshman I am still adjusting to the college life. It is very stressful but i guess just try your best to manage your time. I also have 2 research papers due -_-. Btw I goto Monmouth University on the Jersey Shore.

Had one final already. Got three next week. :yuck: Me, I don't really stress over exams anymore. I just want to pass the courses and move on. Probably not the best way to do it but since I really don't care about some of the courses I'm doing I just can't be motivated to study all day and night. Back in College I could sit down and study in the morning, break for lunch, then study through the afternoon. Not anymore.

As for studying, I switch the wireless off on my laptop, open up all my pdfs or powerpoint slides and just study. Inevitably I will pick up my guitar or walk aimlessly around the house or something but I think I manage to get through with a lot before I lose focus.

So far 2 of my finals have been small papers, and the other 3 I have left are simple enough for me anyways (Java, Maths, Psychology). Once those are done I can hopefully start heading back home to Montana. Although my car has decided to not start up, so I might get stuck down in Texas for a while. Thing won't turn over all the way, so I'm thinking my starters breaking down, or something else that's too expensive and won't be available until after Christmas.

Well for some reason I've hit a studying wall for the first time all semester.

I'm assuming it has to do with the old medication I'm using (my new stuff ran out), the lack of any study areas on campus (I can't study in the apartment at all) and that I'm studying Physics II which is hella bizarre stuff that doesn't make any sense at all.

So I got a D in my lecture class and now the school won't let me take organic chem, and it's going to cost $1000 to re-take the inorganic lecture as they're saying I have to pay out of state tuition. Of course, even if I went to get an exception so that I could take organic and inorganic concurrently, my paid-for spot in the organic lecture was "automatically" relinquished by the computer system once grades processed.

I am so pissed off at this school. This is the 2nd time they destroyed my educational plan-- the first with awful advising and now this. I need to find somewhere to transfer immediately.
