I got kicked out of my house and currently living on my own. Though my FAFSA (fin aid) still has me listed as a dependent on my parents. We're not rich at all (just a lil lower then mid class), do you guys think i'd get more aid if i listed myself as independent?

Maybe. The amount varies on all sorts of considerations, like everything dealing with the Federal Government's money.

But remember it's a LOAN. I owed the amount equivalent to $25,000 when it was all said and done, which means I can afford a used car, not a new one, if I want to live in a house, rather than an apartment.

FAFSA will always give you more than you need, and my advice is to just take what you need, and turn over the rest within 30 days. Although the interest rate is quite low for a student loan, ask youself if you'd like to pay that back for 10+ years!
