Alright well I have an idea what I want but I can't seem to fnid anything =P

Before we start, please note I have a monitor (with VGA), keyboard and mouse so all I need is the desktop tower.

I have $450 to spend on a tower and a tower alone. I do not want anything fancy. Don't need a great graphics card, but I would like around a 500gb hard drive to hold all my music etc. 4-6gb ram would be great, even more would be better. I've seen a few with 12+ that were in my budget so whatever.I do NOT want Wndows 8. I cannot stand it. 7 or Vista would suffice. I would prfer an HP tower but it doesn't matter as long as it's reliable. It also must have a built in Wi-fi card as I won't be able to run an ethernet cable to my router.

Other than that, find me something. Please and thank you =P

So just to get this straight, you absolutely do NOT want to build one, you want prebuilt yes? I'll try and find something for ya, can't guarantee HP though.

So you're too lazy to put in the effort yourself to find a deal? Geez.

HP isn't worth buying from, and your best is to just lurk discount sites like Slickdeals till something pops up from Dell or such.

Installing a Wi-Fi is idiot proof these days, as is building a computer. I'd look at barebone setups since you don't care about gaming, and just grab the few extra bits needed.

Windows 8 can be setup to run just like Windows 7 as well, so I'm doubting you've actually spent anytime with it.

True, Windows 8 is actually not that bad once you get used to it and what alot of people think is that Windows 8 is basically just like the Xbox Dashboard but actually there's still a desktop and icons and everything...the only thing completely redesigned is the Start menu.

Personally I still prefer Windows 7 or Vista, much better in my opinion.

Yes, I like it better too..maybe because I'm more used to Windows 7.
Anyway, the point I was trying to make was that you shouldn't be discouraged to by a PC just because it has Windows 8 because, as Azuremen said, it can be ran just like Windows 7 and it trully isn't bad. I actually like its fluidity 👍

Yes I don't want to go through with building one. Don't have the time or money to do it. If I was going to build one I'd save up for something really nice but I won't be using this for much more than storage, internet browsing and the odd game here or there. Nothing much.

Would you be interested in having to either install a wifi card or use a USB wifi?
I've been down the USB wifi route. In short I'd like built in wifi from the get-go. I'd like to have as many open USB ports available as possible.

Haha I don't know much about PCs other than the basic components and what does what. There are people here who can find a much better deal than I could so I figured I'd ask around.

You're right about not really spending much time with it. But I used it enough to not care for it. The start menu really bugs me.

I prefer XP and 7, Vista is poop for the most part (I have it also). I've been using most Windows things, save for maybe, maybe Windows 2000 since '95.

Vista is crap. It's much worst than Windows 8 in my opinion.

I did XP -> Windows 7 didnt bothered with Vista.

Agreed.

Then just get the PC I suggested before and install this wifi card in it. It's very little work to get a PCI wifi card installed and save yourself one USB port. You just have to plug it into a expansion bay slot, screw the screw into the case to hold it in and then install the software.

Definitely something I will consider.

Do you mind building it youself? If not, go onto eBay and pick the parts.

It's the US, so I don't know about the prices, possibly if you import the parts from overseas, you might be able to make your target, but we're not talking high end stuff.

CPU - i3
RAM - 8GB (get 1 chip)
HDD - 500/750 7200RPM (high rpm important)
MB - Low end Gigabyte/Asus will need on board graphics
Case - Cheapest Mid-Tower possible
PS - Buy locally, atleast 450/500W (can still be on eBay but within US/Canada)
DVD - Drive/RW

I'd rather not honestly. Should have said that in the OP. Too lazy to do it and want something that will work right out of the box without having to screw around with it. Plug in and go kind of thing.

Well then I'd increase my budget, and you may as well just shop around the local computer stores, even ask if they'd assemble a computer of parts that you pick, that'll obviously cost more than building it yourself, but likely less than HP, Dell, whatever PC manufacturer would charge.

At $450, you're really scrapping the barrel even when you're building yourself, to buy a retail machine, forget it, maybe a used one on eBay? good luck to you though, maybe prices in the US are significantly cheaper than AUS, but I find this unlikely (despite all my experiences with AUS prices being 50% more, even if that applied to computers, you're still only at $675... mmmm, that might 'just' cut the mustard for a retail box).

From what I understand is that prices here in the US are much better. You can get a quality desktop PC with good hardware for $500 or a bit less(Great processor, good ram, and not bad graphics). At $800 or more it's better to build your own to get more value here in the US. In fact you can get good entry level gaming laptop for $400 here.

The best option here is to get a PC priced at $450 to $500 with a quad core CPU and add a wireless card. It's very rare for a desktop PC to come with a wireless card.

I've been seeing quite a few on Walmart that fit what I need for anywhere from $300-$400. Its sad to say the budget won't be increasing. $450 is all I can afford to spend at this point. So I either have to make due with this or not get one.

Then get this PC. It has a quad core, 6GB of RAM, 1TB HDD, and has a WiFi B/G/N card. I just found it and it fits under your budget with free shipping and no tax.

Do they have one without the mouse and keyboard? Don't want to buy things I already have several of.

This would be better and cheaper, it has a more powerful processor and IGP and Win 7 HP 64-bit. :)

Looks like it also has an integrated wireless card.

Huh. I didn't see that in the price list I did before. So far I can't find anything better for the price. Should get it as it's a good value for the reduced price.
