Ok, I'm just really curious if they have finally implemented the finger movement when shifiting a car that has shift paddles? I mean I hate to see PD not do this justice. so for those who have the PAL version...is it in there? Or is the movement so minuscule that it simply cannot be seen...

In the video with the F2007 on the News page you can see his finger move when he's upshifting and downshifting

yes, very true, but I forgot to mention that I really would like to know what happens in normal vehicles, such as the ferrari's and such...

I have heard that that hasn't been fixed yet

hmmm....will it be fixed...or will they just let it be? I certainly hope not!!! Can anyone say anything about this!??

Full GT5 is a good year away, I wouldn't concern too much yet. If it is still the same by Tokyo game show, then maybe we should concern about it a bit.

so this means that even in the PAL prologue it hasn't been added yet...to me that's just not logical...its a fundemental movement...just like the 900 degree steering...

To be honest I think they are working on 900 degree hand movements first, before they had the paddle animation.

KY talked about it in one interview late last year saying he was not happy with the hand movements which is why the clumsy 900 movement that was in game show versions was removed and they are working on it. Soon after we saw manual shifting animation in Japanese GT5P and I was hoping for 900 degree plus paddle shift animations by EU GT5P but it seems they are not ready yet.

alright, but do we know for sure that they will even add the paddle annimations?? Or do they just think, well its such a minor movement, lets NOT do it...I really would like to have it, and sicne the F1 car has it...it make sense that all the other cars would also have it....if not then why add it for the F1 car?

I think it was added to the F1 car because the driver would never go hand over hand like in a road car, in the road cars I think it doesn't have it because they have not mastered hand over hand animations and have just limited the wheel animation to 180 degrees. I think once 900 degree hand over hand animations are mastered paddle animations will be added

well...I don't mind waiting for it...so long as PD can confirm it will be in the final game. I mean, prologue is just a starter, I won't mind the animations not being there. But again, as long as the final game DOES have the animation I will be content! Has PD mentioned anything about this?

They have never said they would be there, KY has just said they are working on them.

I can't imagine PD would forget this or simply not implement it...that is sooo unlike PD, it's these details that have made the GT series what it is...I just want the freakin' animations!:scared:

Yes. People constantly need to be reminded this is Prologue, an intro, new 'beginning' and that we're lucky to have it so that PDI can have SOME peace while they build the real deal. We're playtesting the 'beta' and should be grateful they didn't do that 'in house'. Enjoy it, GT5 is a long way off, and I suspect you'll pay dearly for the perfection you seek. Rock on VIPER!👍

look, it's not as if I don't realize this is prologue, and that PD will surely change certain aspects and improve others. All i'm saying is that I simply hope that in time these animations will be added. To me, it would be totally convincing watching the paddle shifts, and would bring that much more realism to gt5...
I wonder how pgr3 did it...if they did it at all...don't remember anymore...

I don't know either...
Still I do believe its essential. I mean let's think about it. The gear lever animation for shifting is there. alright. We have seen the F1 car shift the paddles with his fingers. So is it that far fetched to think they'd have implemented the paddle shift animation for 'normal' cars?

My concerns is simply that PD won't do it, because its just too much work/ difficult. Whereas I am eagerly awaiting to see these animations because they add so much realism...

By the way I checked PGR3 and the way they do it seems alright, although the movement of the fingers is way too drastic and jerky...but nevertheless it's there...

right...great

Anyway, what do the rest of you think. Will we eventually see the paddle shift animation? Or do you think PD won't add it?

Personally, I think they HAVE TO add it, just because they know these little details can make or break the atmosphere!
