OK, really sorry guys, but I've spent the last hour trying to work this out, and now I'm crying out for some assistance, PLEASE :)

I'm trying to install the latest firmware (678) on my new GT3 RS V2 , ive completed stage 1, installed the driver form Fanatecs website, but the update program keeps asking for the driver, I have a set of instructions, telling me to locate the file from my unpacked ones, but it isnt there!

Surely its just me being simple.

I'm running windows vista 32 and have no brain.

Many thanks in advance.

Again, I'm sorry

Hi, i did it with Vista 32bit, got PTWS1 on then PTWS 2 on, but wasn't sure it was right. So connected to Win XP did it all again, got it to work somehow, it went PTWS1, then PTWS2, still ot 100& sure but it seemed OK. Checking FW on wheel, came up as 678, so think its OK. Done plenty of FW updates on other things, modded FW etc etc, this is the worst(not most complicated) i have done, regards knowing whats going on. So i feel your pain.

A few thoughts.

The USB driver is there, but its not a .exe, if you lose it, you have to find wheel(could be just a unknown device, not labelled) in My Computer etc > device manager, then to install or update driver, point to USB Folder/ files in package you downloaded ie 678 FW. Just like you do with PTWS1 etc files, in FW update prog, but with this its a PC/OS thing.

After PTWS1 , it looks like wheel goes out of Bootloader mode, so PC/ USB driver can't see it. Try putting back in Bootloader mode, touch wood, you should then see PTWS2 & be able to install it.

Cheers BOB

Hi, i tried that 669 advice link. Unfortunately theres no 'Devices & Printers' in Vista, or XP i think, so you have to look in Device Manager.
I have found Devices & Printers in Win7 64bit just now, but at time didn't want to try Win7( i can use Vista32, XP32 & Win7 64), especially mine being 64bit, prob will next time.
Problem even worse for me because i already have a unknown Device i have to sort out :) , so had to guess which one wheel was :)
Another thing that can happen, is when you do get USB driver to install, it can ask you to reboot PC. Then you don't know where you are after reboot :)

To me thou, basically once you get USB driver for wheel on PC, its on, shouldn't vanish etc etc. So for say PTWS 2, its wheel that can't be seen, because, wheel as gone out of Bootloader mode, not driver not installed. So in theory, put wheel back in Bootloader mode & touch wood you can then see PTWS 2 File/ Tab. But prob not that simple :)

Crazy updating, at least with 100% confidence, hope peeps have no probs, like me & others. Good luck whoever does it.

Thanks guys, i had to move the driver file (INF) to a new folder on the desktop, then install when windows asked me to search manually. So I did get it completed, but im not sure if the firmware went on. It wasnt till 1am i was finished so I wasnt going to test it, and i spent most of my first day with this wheel, on the laptop.

P.S Is GT5:P rubbish with this wheel or is it just me, feels like im floating around the track, really weak FFB. Kinda feels ok on F1 though.

Hi, well after getting PTWS1 & 2 installed on wheel. To test ie find FW version on wheel:- slightly strange way with GT3rs v2.

2. Fan mode

You now have two modes for the fans:

On: The fans run from the beginning but run faster depending on the temperature

Off: The fan is off and will start with a certain temperature.

You can toggle between the modes by pressing the 4 lower of the 8 main buttons of the wheel when the PWTS is still in standby mode.

On PWC and PWGT3RS V2 it is a bit tricky as you need to power on the wheel and let the wheel move fully to the right but before it returns to the center you need to catch the wheel, press and hold the four buttons and then move the wheel to the center.

You will also see the FWversion if you press those 4 buttons.

From this:-

http://www.911wheel.de/?q=node/4198

On Horizontal spoke of wheel, its 4 bottom buttons.
Everytime you do it it switches Fan on or off(off OK thou, as fan will then kick in with temp, so no prob if it gets hot).

Cheers BOB

ps O one thing to def do, else it will be wappy, reset Tuning ie press little button on LED for about 10 secs, Rsr or whatever will show up.
You can try recentreing wheel as well if needed, get PTWS manual, tells you there.
It don't always look centred when switched on, but normally centres OK when in a Game.

FFB is fine with my wheel. I think you can adjust settings to make it as you like.(both in-game and wheel)

Got all FFB at max. rumble strips and bumps in the road are'nt as pronounced, unless i have sho on as well, but any setting higher than 10 gets annoying

Not sure if it helps but for GT5P I use these settings: -
Sen. Off
FFB. 60.
Sho. 90.
ABS. 78 using ClubSport Pedals.
Dri. 4. Not just for drifting. Works great at simulating the loss of feedback and when catching slides.
Lin. 10.
Dea. 10. Or 20 for the F1 Ferrari.

It says on the site "Like all other FW updates, this is a delivered as BETA version and you do the update on your own risk." What dose that mean? 1. We dont get warenty after updating or 2. It might be screwd after updating and u need to re firmwire it?
