Here is a video of my first attempts at drifting in GT4: Prologue with an R34 Nur Skyline.

At first you need to get used to the new physics, but the most important thing is knowing where on the tracks is the right point to start your drift (as oyu can see some of mine were just to early or late of drifts) and which cars drift well with the tire selection they offer in GT4: p.

There's the link, I'm working on an actual drifting video still, but since nobody has posted any videos on it, even though this is just a testing video, I figure you guys might like it.

thanks for sharing that video though... theat course looks tight..

The skyline drifts nice now that I can get the hang of it. You really need to use feint drifting because the tires just won't allow you do to most anything else.

How is the tire selection in GT4? What about the physics?? How much different is it from GT3?

Well, the least gripping tires are still far from the simulation tires in GT3 they seem a bit stickier. There is more emphasis on your countersteering control.

I wish there was at least one track that was in GT3 so I could compare how different it is to drift in GT4 compared to GT3.

So GT4 is all-new tracks???

wow GT4 looks crazy, but sorry if i missed it but what tires were those? it it does look harder to drift in GT4. well that doesnt matter. more challenge for the long time drifters of GT3:D
thnx for the cool vid Bill

hey did anyone notice when he hit the wall by that tower, the car should have gotten darker cause of the shade... but it didn't? ( this is 3:15 sec into the video) I know its just prologue but its kinda funny :P

does anyone in drift in real life? i was wondering if you guys think the drifting physics in GT3 are true to life and if GT4 really needs to improve upon it.

ah.. yeah drifting IRL is pretty different IMO because you can feel your car and control it much more precisely IRL where as in GT you sort of have to guess.. comes from practice.. also atleast IMO power over handles differently IRL

Well drifting IRL is bordeline sick depending on what car you have, although I have to say that if you get the right car with the right settings, you can share techniques with your GT3 car as you can with your real car.

Just a side note, I have to say that GT3 is the only game that I have played which requires me actually apply all of the techniques that I have learned from my drift instructor to control my drifts in the game as I do in real life. That's totally awesome, no other game I've played requires as much skill and concentration as GT3 does.

i drift in real life........with a 240......it's closer to gt3....
but it's nothing like gt4

gt4p can't really do power over.........even with high powered cars ( nismo fairlady Z, SL55 ) i've tried all the cars in gt4p and made a conclusion.......all cars cannot do donuts.....if u can't even do donuts with a rwd then u wont be able to maintain ur drift angle in a corner....
quite disppointed.......and that is NOT how a rwd car should be

i bought the game and was looking forward to some D1 drifts on those track (afterall.......tsukuba and fuji are 2 of the tracks from D1)

Looks good, I didn't realise I had alreay seen this vid. I would have to agree with exhaust_note. If you want to see how the physics are for drifting, take a FR out. It seems everyone has Skyline fever around here.;)

i do drift in real life... but, it's difficult for me to compare the two. when i drift, i can feel the car, and what's its doing around me, and everything that's going on with the road. in GT3, it was more based around throttle and steering control (throttle more than steering, IMO). the drifting physics could definitely use some work though, and i hope they didn't make things worse with GT4... from the video, it doesn't look very forgiving, but time will tell once i get my hands on a copy. :)
