I tried my first GT5 Marathon last night, the Laguna Seca 90 laps event.

I got to lap 72 after about 1 hour 45 minutes or so, and paused for a break. When I went to continue, somehow I had the cursor over "restart"... which is exactly what it did.

Imagine my disappointment.

Anyway... a couple of queries.... I'm sure in GT4 it used to tell you when other drivers were pitting. I didn't see that on this race, but I know they were as I'd meet them coming out of the pit lane. Is there a setting for that anywhere?

Also, I used Racing Hard tyres.... would I be better off with sports or comfort? I needed to change tyres between 15 and 18 laps, depending on how I'd driven.

A final note.... I can't think of a better way to get to know your car and the track. My fastest lap was lap 70.... just before I pressed the wrong button.

Sorry to hear that!

I did it in a fully tuned Ford GT '06 with soft racing tires. Hard tires should be fine :)

Thanks. How often were you pitting for tyre changes with softs?

I'm going to have to get a wheel... the DS3 controller has the buttons too close together for ham fisted people like me!

1. I haven't found a setting to change that. Unless you keep an eye on the track map, you won't know when they pit.

2. More power to ya if your pitting on such late laps. I've always used racing soft tires. But then again, I use the most powerful car I have based on the track. I used my BMW M3 GTR race car and was pitting every 9-10 laps, mainly because when I drive, I attack the track. Also, I had all the cars lapped inside of 7 laps, so I didn't worry to much about the tires. I'm thinking if you switch to comfort or sport tires, you'll be pitting a lot more and won't have as much traction, again, depending on how powerful the car your using is.

Just my opinions.

I'm not sure, might have been every 11-12 laps.

Thanks RT. I was not taking any chances and used the Bentley 8! I didn't really need to attack the track in that, and was being a bit leisurely.... my fastest lap (lap 70) was about 1m22s, which I'm sure would put me in the "Sunday Driver" league!! But, it was all that was needed against the other cars and after I'd read the post about someone getting wedged into the tyre wall, I wasn't taking the risk!!

Same thing happened to me not once. I mean, WHY PD? Is it so hard to put a option box "ARE YOU SURE"? Especially that they do it with things not so important...

If you race with car above 300bhp I recommend you use racing hard because otherwise You'll loose so much time that one pit-stop less wouldn't really make up for it. You may also notice that road and sport tires start providing less grip more quickly, even though the "tyre life" meter may tell you otherwise...

I like the idea about the "Are you sure" option box! Especially on the long events.

Thanks all for the tyre tips.

I don't know how it happens, I think it's cursed when you get so far in. This has happned to me twice. Once 7.5 hours into the 9hr race, and near
the end of the 4hr nurburgring. Lol.
