First things first, I haven’t driven in GT since June of 2016. I got banned, made a new account, got online to drift with friends and had a blast. Next morning went to get on, hard drive corrupted :odd: Moved on to GTA and never looked back.

So yea, I expected a bit of rust but it was like riding a bike. I made it around the track without driving like I’m swatting a swarm of bees.

Tools: G27 mated to a Gt omega apex wheelstand.

CH
ROAD TAB

The cars don’t want to stay sideways. It seems like if the tires overheat, you straighten. If you are close to lock and you lift, you spin.

I’ll try tuning tonight. It’s something I’ve never taken serious in past versions as The car drove the same to me, no matter how I aligned it and set the dampers.

Any tips or suggestions?

Suspension tuning has never been the difference between driftable/undriftable. Usually beginners try desperately to tune suspension hoping to find a magic setup that will keep them from spinning.. but they won't find it.

LSD is vital if the car doesnt have one, and in GT Sport you can go 60/60/60 as default, then depending on cars try some lower initial lock.

Gearbox is very important, tune to your liking. My personal taste is use only the highest 2 gears because the last gear has some rev limiter magic that will make it more comfortable.

For suspension, 1 thing that they don't explain is that drift tab adds positive caster (except for a few cars that don't get modded). It might feel weird the first 10 minutes like the rear doesn't want to get loose, like it's some kind of assist for noobs, but it really is just a setting about front suspension and it's what you need for really agressive drifts.
rest of suspension tuning is up to your taste.. things that I do automatically are max camber front, max toe out front, 0 toe rear, max rear spring rates and rear damping, 10 antiroll front and 1 rear.

Things went a lot better this morning, although it took awhile to find a lobby that wasn’t filled with Race cars. I ditched the mustang and went back to what I know, the fc3s. “Slammed” it, 60/60/60 diff, -4 front camber and 350hp. Dude chasing thought I was trolling because I drove that much better once I switched cars.

I only use the stock gearbox and hate that Gt sport didn’t get the close ratio 5/6spd option. I don’t care for the whine of the dog box. I really wish kaz would move the final drive to the differential tab, since he wants Gt to be sooooo realistic.

Tried drift tab and hated it. Makes my wheel feel like a mad Katz 180* wheel. Self steering was nearly non existent, as if I had very low caster. It felt much better in gt6, don’t know what happened in sport.

Ahah I used to feel exactly like that. If you have a Thrustmaster 1080deg wheel like I do, be aware that on the road cars that do use the 1080, drift tab will set it to 900deg, while at the same time raising max steering angle of the car, and that's another reason why it feels very dumb at the beginning.

If you think it's bollocks, get the big BRZ. You will like it cause its gears are setup to drift already and you can use the clutch. The BRZ behaves the same on both tab because it's already got the drift suspension. Play with it for a while until you're making sick drifts.
Then switch to a gr3 car on drift tab and you will realize it's similar.
Move back to a street car on road tab and you will miss the ability to really abuse angle and throttle.
